Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold?
I love creating my pictures and it is very hard for me to part with them. So far I have only offered prints to customers and have given my art to close family and friends. I have recently decided that I have way to much fun creating my art so its okay to let it go and share it. That is part of being an artist
Yes.
Sometimes, if the work is a personal best. Most of the time I feel an exhilaration that the piece is leaving me to fulfill its purpose. My art was never meant to sit around my studio. It was meant to go out and be worn, to be loved and admired, or to provoke thought. The piece that hasn't gone out into the world yet and found someone to love it, isn't finished in a way. The point of making wearable art is for it to be worn.
Sometimes it's a little sad, but when I make pieces I believe I'm making them for someone in particular, I just don't know who yet.
It makes me happy to see a piece of my own art go somewhere where it is truly appreciated. If my art can talk to someone in such a way that they want to engage with it on a semi permanent basis then i have succeeded in my own gratification process.
only occasionally and even then, rarely.
I have never sold anything yet. I would rather give my art work away than sell it. I feel that if I give away what I make. The recipient will remember and appreciate you forever. Of course this is my opinion.
No! As I have never had to sell anything.
yes , but it is a mix feeling , I'm very happy that it start a life on its own , but sad to see it going away from me !
Yes, a little. It is somehow a part of me and the loss I feel is always unexpected.
No
not in the least!
in fact it has always given me great joy to part with works i have made...
mind you these are old memories as the work i make is not for sale. it is usually commissioned by others and the rights are complex and often shared between makers.
No not at all. I wish I could experience this "pain" more often.
Sometimes
Very painfully indeed! Because as i create the art work it becomes part of me.Just looking at its beauty makes me want to stick to it forever |
