Can one live without art? Certainly .......... but would you want to?
As necessary as water!
Yes it is. Art helps make the world a beautiful place and allows individuals to take the pictures in there heads and create something real with it. I know personally if I do not create then I feel like I am not totally myself.

I think it is necessary for the human spirit to experience beauty, in any form. In our modern culture, which is so removed from the natural world, art is incredibly necessary. Especially in urban areas, where we may not be able to see beauty in our surroundings, it is necessary for certain individuals to provide another medium for beauty, and this is where art comes in. It is a balm for the soul, a breath of fresh air, and an escape. Art speaks to the viewer and transports him or her to another place, if only for a brief moment. This escape is what makes life bearable, a reminder that in an imperfect world, beauty still exists.

As much as facial expressions are necessary to display emotions. As much as is is necessary to drink when you are thirsty. Art is an expression of social problems and human concepts, which will always be used as long as we are "Human".
look around you, art is everything you see. Without art, you would be standing in dirt, absolutely naked and hopelessly bored out of your mind.

Yes, it is calming, healing and provocative. The museums and galleries that house it are sanctuaries. It is as necessary as sports or music because we don't all fall into one of those other categories of supported outlets.
