What do you think about public funding for the arts?
its vital for the advancement of the human race.
It is appreciated. I don't see a mandatory need for it, as is budgeted to schools, however. That money should be spent on education (art education included), instead of on a million dollar sculpture for the court yard.
Better than funding Bonds undies and having the work shipped overseas. People need visionaries that are local, sound escapes and verbal entertainment so they can better connect, communicate and grow their thoughts and inventions.

We pay our own way and make our own paths mostly. I think it's great that there are avenues out there for those who are less fortunate and need the help to get to that place where they can explore their creativity. I don't like the idea of the artist who lives off the system though. Chasing bursaries and grants to fulfill self-indulgent projects is something that we'll never do. We always find a way to create what we want and don't expect others to pay for it. Unless they want to purchase the work. Thats works just fine.
I think it is essential we fund art in the schools, libraries, museums, etc.
I do not think the gvt. should fund private artists... unless it is to teach

I think that it would be nice to have public funding, but it is not vital. I think artist get a bum wrap for being "bums" but the truth is we have to study, and work on perfecting our craft, and it would go a long way to get some support.
I think it's a good idea. Artistic people often have to struggle to make a living and since what they do contributes to the fabric of society, a little help from that society would be much appreciated!
I love to see anything that supports ART! We have plenty of support for sports and its nice to see it go the other way too!
