HEALTH

Obesity, insomnia, and depression, are epidemic. What does that say about our way of life? What must be changed at the social level?

Unfortunately we are living in an age of fast paced lives and fast food to match... a sure recipe for disease! Stress and inadequate nutrition are the major causes of disease... both physical and mental. On a social level people need to start taking responsibility for themselves by not allowing themselves to be sucked into the trends and take the necessary steps to eat well, exercise and relax! And then to share the secrets to their new-found sense of well-being with all their friends! =)

Connecting with others on a real intimate level, sharing loving and respect for the humanness of your being.

Food companies should be responsible citizens and offer healthy options. People need to get up from their chairs once an hour. We must form social networks for supporting each other to be healthy. Kids need to be taught at a early age about proper nutrition, exercise, habits, etc

I think it only says that people are beginning or have started to neglect their health, Clearly these can be managed with a supporting family, seeking consult with the experts, will power and a good environment. Interaction with people is also important, meeting or talking to people who are under going and have survived can be of great help and can serve as an inspiration.

All of these things stem from negative thoughts in our mind. How we feel about ourselves and the world around us. As a result of these continued negative thoughts, some of us gain weight, can't sleep, or get extremely down about our circumstances. Today, because people tend to stay in their own mental spaces, we as people don't communicate effectively with each other. We tend to stay on "autopilot" with our responses and in our general conversations. In return, we don't tap into what truly is on your mind. It's hard and very uncomfortable to express our true selves and feelings with one another. But if we can move past that uncomfortability, then we'll realize there is healing on the other side of that mental hurdle. Once you are able to start that healing process, you can really begin to grow and develop into your highest potential. If we all just allowed ourselves to truly communicate with each other, you will learn that a lot of the issues we are dealing with today will not be as prominent.

We live in an unnatural environment with too much food and lack of physical challenge. Change your behavior and stand up!

The assumption of personal responsibility.

Again, I think our country is pill happy. We prescribe a pill at the drop of a hat. We don't look at prevention, simply treating the symptom. I feel that media, reality shows and technology have robbed people of their ability to appreciate life. We're led to believe that being rich, skinny or perfectly beautiful is the only way to experience happiness. Everyone is trying to get rich quick or make a fool of themselves in order to become a tv star. And most important, many have overlooked the value of a face-to-face conversation. We're so disconnected, and it's taking it's toll on the general well-being of our country.

Obesity needs to be treated as a disease and education started in grade school. We need safer treatments for this disease, better access to healthier foods and better life styles (get off the couch and walk).
Depression can't be avoided and sometimes can't be reversed. People need to realize the root cause and try to understand the person and situations. Pill help for awhile, but mask the problem.
Insomnia- many reason, money worries, depression, stress. Individual dependent so no common treatment works for everyone.

Honestly, people are too busy these days. We don't value our health and wellness enough because we are so bogged down by the stress of our everyday lives. We eat on the run and it's mostly junk because we feel like we don't have another choice. But the truth is we do. Our bodies truly are the result of what we put in to them so it's time to choose better snacks. Pack fruits and veggies to snack on at work and skip the vending machines, limit yourself to one cup of coffee a day, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park at the back of the parking lot...there are lots of little things you can do to get healthier and these small steps will add up.

We must not look for cure all, but instead love ourself enough to make a change. Eat in moderation and exercise.
