SPORTS
Is sport a social sublimation of war?
of course not its about fair play .. thats all
What came first the chicken or the egg this is an un-answerable question as that is a matter of opinion that could be debated till the end of time.
Not defined as war but a battle between teams and supporters. But things can get a little more serious like it has done in the past.
It certainly can be, darts is a one on one sport, comparable to boxing, each player tries to outscore the other, but your key wording in the question is social, all sport can be played socially, and everyone can find their own level of participation.
I can see where some sports may be...but not for me.
mmmmm maybe
Sport is a little of everything. Socializing, cooperating, war, solutions, teamwork, empathy, goals, hard work and so very much more. Sport is a vehicle to grow and thrive in spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually.
I don't think so. But it should be aggressive. Maybe war is the antisocial sublimation of Sport?
I think that is a simplistic statement that overlooks the triumph of human endeavour as opposed to the breakdown that leads to conflict.
In a way, I guess you could say that. War is generally seen as a bad thing however. Sports are battles between two opposing sides seeking victory; but it's all in good fun. |
