Do you consider yourself postmodern?

Whohub

Although I am very postmodern in execution, I see myself a classic in thought, for what I express in my art is very basic: humanity.

I went to art school and I can't even be bothered to go look up the definition of that word. I have completely forgotten what that means.

I guess. If you take modernism and think about what it's doing, rejecting historical events, whether they are true or not, it negates what could be, which in-turn stops being creative based from history. I don't think i'm either. I'm just not bothered to put myself in either catagory.

I do not have a broad academic background. People say they recognize my style, but I'm not certain that I do. I paint what I see and what I love, and try to put it in the context that other people will enjoy it, too.

I love expressionism. I love traditional and realism. I fall somewhere inbetween.

If you look up the definition of "postmodern" in Wikipedia you get three different definitions and descriptions in the English, German and French version.
That's to illustrate that it's not even possible to define uniformly such a period, direction or style in art history.
That's only important if you yourself wish to be placed into such a box.
If that matters to you as an artist.
It doesn't matter to me personally.
I'm not busy rationalizing my artwork.
When Van Gogh was alive all art-scholars thought him to be a lunatic and bad painter.
Even the Dutch who maybe a century later built a special museum to honour him and now call him an icon in art history.
So I don't bother to get into the type or sort of "school", "direction" or "style" I belong or don't belong.
I make my own art in my own way.

I consider my self contemporary

I consider myself a person of my time searching for a valid and interesting contemporary approach to art.

I consider myself current.

No - I really don't see myself in any particular slot ... I tend to do things my way, my feelings, my style .. not really influenced by anything particular.

Contemporary.

Post Neo Conceptual is more like it. Or just Post.

No. Postmodernism, it sounds like marginality. I'm not a marginal person at all. Quite the contrary.
I do not like to be listed.

Debatable

I consider myself contemporary.

I am not sure that I consider myself postmodern. More likely realistic.
