Why do so many artists and creators have such volatile personalities?

Whohub

i think that anyone who genuinely has the need to make art is constantly driving towards something that ultimately they will never reach, which is in equal parts frustrating as it is rewarding.

Do they? I think that creativity comes hand-in-hand with insecurity and that makes people act out, maybe.

Hope that is not me. Embroidery should be a calming craft.
At times though an artist is so into the moment and creativity, that the rest
of the world just goes on without them. It is their passion and there life and
they put 120% into what they do.

Not sure what you mean, I'm sorry.

In my experience, the artists I have spoken to and speak to are generally really nice, gracious and modest. But arrogance, pompousness and stress can cause anyone to become volatile. Hopefully my friends and girlfriend will keep me grounded enough to stop me from becoming a jerk.

With me, I put a lot of pressure on myself to perform. I was working a full time job, painting every evening, band once a week and shared time with my girlfriend Claire. I became burnt out and very stressed and was a real bastard to be around... all self-inflicted.

I'm changed now. I strive to be a much better person and to not put so much pressure on myself.

They are Curious,and therefore 'unapprehensible'

We're critical, well some. We see things differently.

A client of mine explained this perfectly...he said artists are people who have the top layer of their skin removed so they are especially sensitive to all influences surrounding them.

This is true to some extent, and this truth makes it very important for artists, and all beings, to study the mind, learn to tame it, and use it to it's fullest instead of being lead around by the wild beast.

I don't and this is the one characteristic that may seem like I am not an artist. However, I am opinionated and I do express my thoughts. I do not explode and I am not short tempered. I am thoughtful, considerate, tolerant and believe that art or the written word is the best way for me to communicate.

It, I think, tends to be that we're cursed with a vision. Also, when we're in "the zone" we're crazy focused. It's dangerous for someone to break that focus.

Because they want people to see them this way.
They think it will make them look more creative.

The world is ever-changing and artists absorb life by the second...We have soo much to say & just hope we can find the right avenues to express ourselves before it's too late.

I can only speak for myself. I am a very passionate person & care deeply about my beliefs. I tend to be a little too outspoken sometimes.

I don’t think all artists have a volatile personality.Artists ideology are more responsive, that’s all.

tell me!
