When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist?

Whohub

I don't really see myself as an artist - it has connotations of starvation and wild temper tantrums. I see myself as a professional - a kind of Graphic Hitman.

I've always been an artist, ever since I first picked up a crayon.
As a professional artist: when I started doing drawings I thought were worthy to be framed with quality material (i.e. UV-protected non-glare glass and nice, wood frames).

After a long and varied career in technology I realized that I have always been essentially an artist at the age of 52. It was hard to admit, at first because I thought that anything as much fun as digital art could not be of value, but then I began to see the communicative aspects of it when others viewed my work and I realized that it is a valid pursuit.

As I took art class at the Universuty

In the 4th grade, painting one day.

In kindergarten when during the clay pinch-pot activity (back then they were called ashtrays), I created a sculpture of a little man holding an apple.

2 yrs old, really.

I still don't. I'm just hoping to be one when I grow up.

I saw myself as an artist when I was very young. I was five years old and drew a rabbit for my kindergarten class and for it I was held in high regard by my peers (something I was not used to until that point). Since then, I always try to do better with each succeeding piece than with the preceding one. I always welcome a challenge.

Since I was a young child.

I noticed that I enjoyed drawing at a very young age and realized that it was something I really enjoyed doing.

I saw myself as an artist when I drew my first comic—age 8!

When somebody looked at one of my drawings and said damn.

When I went away to Italy for 3 months on a study abroad program - first time ever outside the USA. I was 19 and after seeing how treasured the arts were in Florence, I felt for the first time that I could do this. Italy showed me that art was valid, and sacred, and worth pursuing with your life.

As a kid drawing pictures that others thought were good. :-)
