I love when I see something that is perfect for the medium - something that could not possibly be expressed any better. I recall a one-panel comic by artist Jeff Mallet. It could have been spoken, performed, acted-out in some way, but none could surpass his simple, succinct drawing. It was perfect for the medium.

When a creative idea has been "created" it has passed from idea to the synthesis of the object. It is no longer an idea, and loses much of its power, or charm. I'm inclined, then, to place a low value on ideas, though they may inspire and motivate art production. |
