How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?
It depends, but mostly just instinctively or intuitively I know.
Is good when i got it finalised, is not good when it can't be born...
If I can bring it to a realistic conclusion it is a good idea. If it can not be created with realism it is not good.
I try not to be too selective. I have created things I thought were junk, yet another thinks it is wonderful. Art is subjective and I at times do not see what others do.
Visualization!...I try to picture it in my mind...and try to look at it objectively.
I always draw it on paper first to see if it will look the way I want it to.
I wait, and if the idea comes back, I do it (in the safest and cheapest possible way). Any judgement comes after that
When I present the idea on paper to the client. I know it's good when I see their expression and hear their comments!
I usually try and follow through with an idea , even if it's just a trial run. Some of what I thought were my best ideas were duds, but a few of my "it will never work" ideas have turned out brilliantly.
I see if it is relevant to people's most common wants or desires.

Sometimes I evaluate if it's viable or not. Can it be made? If I am stumped I try to find a collaborator but I rarely judge myself once I have the idea formed.
When it's not a bad idea.

I am usually quite satisfied with the end result of my images. If an idea doesn't seem to be working itself out as I had planned, I don't give up, I keep trying or maybe start working on a new image until something surfaces that I am very pleased with, but usually I am satisfied with the first image I begin working with. |
