How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?
I simply feel that. I accept it and work with it. For me the ideea is a living thing, a friend.
No big thought, I just go with it.
I like it, or I don't.
all depends on how to use it, if an idea,art or art creation is used to bad right it will be bad work, but if idea,art creation is used for a good thing it would be good work. like a knife, kris, or sword can be called as a beautiful work of art but can be used for the worst thing in the history of warfare.
I'm terrible at that myself, so I run the idea past my partner first. If there is interest then I might do up a sample and show it to a larger collection of friends and associates, usually on Facebook.
I know right away without thinking much about it or second guessing it. Then, I come back to it later to see if it stands up to time.

If I follow through with an idea and the end result delights me.
An idea will never make it to my work bench if it doesn't meet two important criteria:
Can it be done? And will anyone care when it's finished?
Just because an idea looks gorgeous in my mind's eye, doesn't mean that my hands can make it. Unless I'm creating something just for myself, I don't usually create something that won't be of use. If someone might love it, then it's worth doing.
After I make something, if I can go back to it the next day and still say "I like this", then it must be good.
I'm not a fan of over-used ideas.
I usually come up with an idea, then evaluate its originality, and possibility of being cliche. If its an idea that I feel is unique to me and hasn't been done before, I try it and decide at the end result if it is good enough.
If it stays with me long enough to at least make a quick sketch and when I go back to it to actually do something with it and I still want to do it then it is a good idea.
You just know when an idea is good because it resonates and you can't stop looking or thinking about it. You've made a successful piece when you can stir other peoples emotions in the same way.
Bad or weak ideas never get off the starting block or are scrapped half way through.
