How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not?
No ideas good or bad until I have tried many times over to create what I envision. The result may not be what I expected but all the same something interesting or beautiful will come about.
It's about my feeling. And maybe it's also my biggest fault.
There are those that I finish and I am so satisfied and can't quit staring at it, and then there are those that others like and buy.

I don't evaluate whether an idea is "good", if it feels right and touches something deep within me I make it happen. The one criterion I do use in deciding whether to execute an idea is to determine whether it is in keeping with what I have been saying with my work; the oeuvre has to hold together as an entity, just as does each work of art.
Discussing it usually reveals that- you need to trust your own heart because some of the best ideas are not going to sound to others, as good as they can be. However, I find that hearing your thoughts aloud is enough for you to decifer whether or not an idea is worth pursuing & the reaction you receive can be a strong indicator as well.
By how it makes me feel
I can only go with my gut, I either like it or I don't.
Sometimes an idea with seemingly little merit will grow on you and turn out to be really good and sometimes something you expect to turn out great completely bombs.
It's not always easy to tell until you've pursued it for a while.
well I never evaluated an idea before I made it into reality...
so if the result is good then idea is brilliant... I don't think idea is bad at all
except for the bad ideas it self
I do small compositions then stand back and take a good look at it and if I'm not feeling it I toss it, if it looks right I run with it and create it. |
