When do you get your best ideas?
Late at night or in bed..hehe.
When I brain storm with the client.
Now if I knew THAT one, that would be life-changing. Generally, in the shower, or whenever I'm able to switch off from all the distractions life offers me.
In the middle of the night in thought, or during average conversations with stranger/acquaintances. I'm a listener.
When I least expect them.
I always get my best ideas when I am not trying to think of them. A lot of good ideas come when I have to wait for someone, or if I arrive early to a meeting. There is no stress in those situations for me because I am not drawing for a specific purpose other than to pass the time.
When cycling or reading
I get my best Ideas after doing intellectual reseach or historical investigation.
I get my best ideas right before I fall asleep or after some self inflicted mind altering
Hmmm.... don't know that there is "one" answer to this... I do lots of thinking while I'm driving. I do lots of driving - generally over 30,000 miles a year, so lots of thinking time. I mentally move materials around, play with ideas and concepts, shift things. Then when I get studio time what comes out often has bits and pieces of these thoughts in it, but only rarely is fully from this kind of thinking. In terms of time of day, I am definitely a morning person, and tend to prefer to get in the studio in the morning.

When I am at my worst.
I get inspired by scenes I've photographed.
