What is art?

Art is something only one person can create.
Both Liebnitz and Newton came up with the Calculus but if Picasso had
not created Les Demoiselles d'Avignon no one would have.
A nice, solidly painted/executed piece of work, with a good understanding of the basics.
Art is a process of self-discovery; a physical and very effective form of communication. It provides an opportunity to network and form new communities. Art is work. My ideas about what art is are constantly changing.
Art defies definition - it's something that is very personal to each individual and how they perceive things.
Art is subjective.
To me art is the result of an individual's need to express that which is inexpressible through general media such as language and mathematics. Everyone is endowed with a spark of the creativity responsible for our existence. Those who find it necessary to act upon that creativity in unique modes are artists. All humans create their experience and possess choices as to the media through which it is manifested.
One of expression tools.
Art is anything that defines us as human, I guess.
What isn't art? Anything can be beautiful or profound and stir us to think deeply or question our former sense of perception. Art can be created for that purpose or stumbled upon. It's all in how you look at it.
Art is the ideas you have in your head expressed vissually or through the written word for others to share in.
What is art? Now, that is the million dollar question. In my opinion, art involves a leap of the imagination and utilizes a creative process and/or materials to create it.

Art is an expression of life.
Anything can be considered art, even the most basic tools that we use everyday if we take the time to REALLY look at them. Shapes and forms are everywhere. If more people took the time to actually see things, the world would be a much more interesting and happier place. |
