art is what comes from your mind, soul, references in such a simple form that may be imediatelley understood at universal level because it defines you as a human in a relation with the cosmo, that is why i am not sure if sports or competition or crafts or crop-circles for example are art, there is something too mechanically perfect like the marching of the soldier to call it art, perfect is oposite to art...if the creative surprize,the accident, the non logical, absurd even is present and if a child, an aging or dying person of any culture finds it comunicates something important that he/she understands and can relate to, then it is ART, if you have to explain it then is is art for a few only and this is another problem, art is for all and not the elite, unfortunat. like as with the word love, or frienship most people just use the word in a vague empty sense to mean all and nothing...and that is how the leite is destroying what once belonged to all, like the melting icebergs, the sand sculptures of time are being washed as art is disapearing from our societyand and only some form of expression remains, like sex that sells, and love that does not, art that sells is no longer art ...so how does the artist survive ? big question, how does the artist not get contaminated by his success in the process of survival ? for as soon as we sell is our creativity not conditioned by success ? and if so how is our art still pure as love and the water we drink should be ?...   | | |

Art is only a term, abstaction of human skills.
Art is heart, the origin of a ward is heart then, latin don't pronounce H, so art as craft man with heart called Artisan, so not only beauty, not only fine art, it's expression of heart of own and own mind, I think. Something only human has as tears, naturally moved heart and mind by expression of visual, sound, smell,taste and felling. And originality is most important thing to appreciate, because it's only one creation which dose not exist same thing, just like person, nobody same, so that's just like we have different face.

I dislike the question, "What is art?" I know what art is when I see it. Art is the Van Gogh that first inspired me as a teenager. But then, I may have a loose way of defining things: a piece, or the spirit of the Van Gogh may turn up in something that looks nothing like Van Gogh.
