What is art?

Whohub

Art is born in one's heart, translated through mind and hand, then presnted to share.

anything provocative

Art is life. Art reveals life.

It is an imperfect imitation of life. And that is exactly its magic and charm. Even abstract art imitates life.

Art is an attempt to survive.

I am not sure. I have never been good with labels. But for me, art is a way for us to discover what is exceptional about ourselves. Art is a way for us to strive to be something better than that which we are capable. We have many ways in which we can connect with each other physically, mentally, and spiritually. Good art has the potential to connect and move in all three of these areas.

art is passion for me

Waht is art?

Art is a way to express ones feelings and emotions without words. It can also be a way of bringing ones own fantasys to light for eveyone to take part in. To inspire dreams and fantasys in those around us.

WHAT ART?
REALART?
OR FAKE ART?
TODAY ART IS HOW GOOD PR AN ARTIST HAVE .
THATS WHY AFTER MANY YEARS WE DISCOVER ARTISTS THAT WE NEVER KNEW

A behavior that homo sopiens engages in, making marks on things and decorating anything humans live in or use. It's communication. It's human instinct to draw and sing and paint and tell stories. We'll do it with anything that comes to hand.

There's a bad social habit of declaring certain types of art as "Not Art" but all art is craft and inspiration and communication. Patchwork quilts are art. Decorative art is art. Ads are art. Take those useful arts out of context, stick them in a museum with a century or two on it and it'll be art again.

I don't like that narrow definition -- saying someone's art Isn't Real Art is a nasty power trip on the same order as "real men don't eat quiche." Who are the unreal men and unreal artists who like greeting cards and folk art and quiche and whatever? Who are you going to let arbitrate your personal tastes? Experts are historians -- okay, you can study history of anything and historians can organize a lot of information.

The conclusions you draw from the information are your own, and when something gets defined as Not Art because it's not expensive or it got reproduced for the masses who like it or it's not high class, that's just a scam -- a status game really. It is all art. What art you like is a matter of your personal choices and those come out of your worldview, your culture, your background.

There's art I don't like and art that I do. That's the only rational line I can draw and I do not expect that to be the same as anyone else's. I don't like most of Picasso's later art but the man was demonstrably a great artist, he lived on doing great art for most of a century and a lot of people do like his later work. I'm not going to say it's Not Art because I don't like it.

An act of fakery that has no purpose or value, and is beautiful for precisely those reasons.

I believe art is our soul/emotions/feelings expressed visually.

art is a way to give a physicality, a tangibility to the emotions of one's inner being, of one's soul

art is a way of pleasure
