What is art?
art is GOD and life in expression of self
Communication with each other and something bigger than us.
Almost anything that an artist creates. The artist must define what is art, and then show it to others to help clarify the definition.
I'm not sure. Everyone has to decide for themselves. I think the way it is crafted is just as important as the way it was thought out. Thin ideas sometimes result in the most beautiful pieces, and rich ideas sometimes end up in lousy looking stuff. For me it is very visual.
ART is a LIFE FORCE, NOT A CAREER CHOICE
You really expect me to answer the 2nd most asked question in human existence? Not a chance. That is for you the viewer to decide. Not my job. I make images. If they are 'art' - then that is the viewer's decision, not mine.
It doesn't matter what it means to me. What does 'Art' mean to you?
Art is anything that gets your attention visually. It can be a complex work by an old master, or the way drops of paint have fallen on a sidewalk outside a office remodel.
Art should draw you in and ask for your involvement.
Spirituality

I think art is what people create to give their souls to the world. People who are creative have a deep desire to share something......they are connected to something else besides themselves.....something that is of another world. I think artists or anyone creative has a longing for life that is better, more beautiful, more moving, more sensitive and less wordly. I think art is a way to find oneself and to understand who we are spiritually and emotionally. I think art should be beautiful, though. I am very offended by negative art.....it isn't art at all but a confused mind trying to be an artist. It would be better if people were to find the good in themselves to create art......not to shock people. People are innately offended by bad art.
In my personal definition art would be to express yourself in an individual way. I believe you can't judge art because it is so unique, and every individual defines art in a different way. There is no right or wrong in art, there is only individualism that touches every single person in a different way. Art is the most powerful and most expressive way to share your inner thoughs, feelings and soul with the outside world.
For me, ART IS THE ELUSIVE BUTTERFLY.. It is something dangled in front of our noses, to entice, to captivate the senses. Oh we can go into the true 'meaning of art', and we could debate the subject for years, as is many an artist, but let's face it, the subject is subjective, and purely a matter of taste and what appeals to one's likes and dislikes. So it is a moot point, a butterfly forever flapping it's wings, seductive and beautiful to the eye.
Not everyone agrees on what constitutes art. To me, a work of visual art, is a product of an artists creative effort. I may like it, or not, but the creator has expressed a creative vision to the best of his/her ability.
Art is a personal expression of experiences communicated across time and space to the viewer. Art is a mediator. Regardless of back-ground or epoch, art creates common ground. |
