What is art?
Art is that which touches your heart, or speaks to you.
The word Art is , like all words, exclusive.
Something but not something else, depending on who uses the word.
Art is an impossible word, like nature.
How many people have tried to define that?
I couldn't begin to...I know that some people would absolutely not call my work "art"....but I do, and I suppose that's enough for me...as for other "art"...it's so subjective...I respond to some and not others, but does that give me the right to define it? too difficult....
Anything is possible.
I don't care what art is.
Living
Art can be:
an aesthetic form without a practical function
an idea made visible
political
grotesque
disturbing
beautiful
unpredictable
an aesthetic form with function or the illusion of function
Art is unpredictable. Now that we're in the "post modern" era art can be anything. It can be an old suitcase stacked up with old memories; a giant painting of tomato soup; five green dots on an orange canvas; a performance; a documentary of events.
That's very difficult. I think the word is used for so many different areas now. It's not so clear. I also think there is a lot of snobbery - the conceptual artist looking down on the craftperson for example. I think it's a shame the word 'art' covers so much, but then again why can't it all be art? I don't think I'm getting anywhere with answering this question. I suppose it's only the viewer that can answer that for themselves.
Art is creation, art is inspiring, art is what each viewer determines it to be. There is no clear cut answer; each individual has a totally different opinion of what art should be.
Art is an individual's interpretation of something in creation, whether ugly or beautiful, happy or sad, bad or good. This interpretation may manifest itself in the form of applied artwork like painting or sculpture, writing or poetry, gardening or craftsmanship, building, architecture or "installation" artwork, calligraphy or collage, ...and on and on.
Intention to Create.
Art is life. It is everything that is created that shows a feeling at the time, in the past, and even in the future.
Art is something that you sense for artistic. It seems that anything what you put in scene is art. If you are a cook, you do art with a food. Musician can make art with different instuments. And so on, and so on.
