What is art?
Art for me is an expression of life even when on the subject of death and it is about everything even when saying nothing. To create art is as important as breathing. Not that all of my creations are masterpieces, but all of my creations or desires to create are an attempt to get at something, express a feeling, or reveal truth. It is a way of seeing. Art comes from the creator who is like a mad scientist or one who methodically and with detail presses to find a sweet spot or from one who is near insanity from attempting to tell a story or convey a feeling. Still art is the journey and not necessarily the destination.
Couldn't tell you. Really it's what you make of it.
To me art encompasses hundreds of creative processes that can stimulate our senses, from producing a piece of music to creating a plate of delicious food.
Tolstoy: Every work of art causes the receiver to enter into a certain kind of relationship both with him who produced, or is producing, the art, and with all those who, simultaneously, previously, or subsequently, receive the same artistic impression.
art is anything we perceive as artistic. a gnarly old rusted bike in a field of weeds is art if we look at it with the right eye.
It's beauty.
Art is any creative aspect of Life, from the cradle to the grave, before and after, natural or man-made.
Art is everywhere. Transforming a bunch of everyday crap into something fun and imaginative. Art is make up. Art is words. Junk. Painting. Drawing. Dancing. Singing. Art is everywhere you look. :)
Since I do not have much formal art training, I don't know the answer to that question. I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer. I guess it would be different to different people. I think it should invoke a memory, a feeling or pleasant thoughts.
Art is a beautiful filling with purport.

art is something made for visual pleasure, not cash
for some people its a getaway from the problems, for others its just a butifull piece and for me its a bonding process with my child. Through art I can make people think about things that they prefer not to remember and try to make them act and not just think
Art is anything created that inspires you to feel emotion.
It's the kind of question without answer. It's exactly like "what is Death?". A lot of people tried to answer without any success. There are some theories but no definitive definition. And it's a huge mistake to ask an artist about it. Like the dead guy in a morgue, he will not give you any clue about Death. |
