Inspiration can honestly be anything for me; it could come from photographs, scenery that I see, phrases I hear people say, movies I watch, dreams I have, or things that I read. Inspiration is something that sparks a thought, which sparks another thought, which continues the pattern until you have a complete idea for a piece of art, and sometimes that idea changes along the way.
An idea is born randomly. I can not control when I get an idea. Things that help my inspiration are: viewing others work, traveling, family, friends, and hobbies.
I can't easily answer that as inspiration comes in many forms. Strong emotions, travel and nature generally evoke creativity in me.
An idea can come from anywhere, really. From a picture, a place, a moment, a conversation... it can happen anytime. For me, my inspiration comes from people. The people in my life and the memories that I share with them. Everything revolves around those that I love or have loved.
Normally an idea is born when I find contradiction in mandating authority figures, or any of the sort (i.e. Laws, Policies, Government). The ignorance of others, and when I see the affects of this devastating war, also drive my expressive habits.
"I don't need ideas, I need metal".
What I like the most is just start somewhere and see where it brings me. Of course sometimes I make sculptures which I "know" from before, but the most creative way is when you don't know.
Ideas are a result of living and reflecting upon experience. Inspiration is everywhere, but mostly in other people. Which may seem strange coming from someone who is so heavily involved with technology, but the most important aspect of technology is its source, human activity.
Everyday life inspires me. Mans struggle with his own demons, the things men do to each other. The challenges of life, sadness, joy, pain, sorrow, fear, anger, happiness, all things inspire me
