How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration?

Whohub

Ideas come like the wind. Or even like the brass ring on the merry go round. You must grab it, nurture it, cherish it, and then express in it your own personal way.

For me, when a new idea comes my way, I feel an excitement, a rush. I say,
"That's it!" and I know it belongs to me. And I must work with it and make it my own.

You see, God gave me this strange set of contact lenses and this is how I see life.

Everything around me inspires me hence an idea is born.

An idea is born from other images, other ideas. Silly as it may seem, I actually look at an image, "listen" to it, and it tells me what I should do. I have no ideas in my head, it come from the world around me. I look at my images, or images of others and they inspire me to act, they move me to do something, they trigger my creative process and makes me want to create, this is inspiration for me.

Being in nature fuels my ideas... all the light, sound, smell, and touch stimuli of the natural world can be so overwhelming I just HAVE to make something to express how beautiful it all is. Besides that, I have very vivid and colorful dreams every night which often inspire me... also the time right before I fall asleep or when I am in a deep state of relaxation, I am often flooded with ideas and imagery.... Going to galleries and listening to concerts-- looking and listening to other artists' work-- is surefire way to fuel anyones imagination!

Ideas are born through experiences, you'll never be able to forecast an inspirational moment it'll just happen based on memories from past experiences and your learned sense of creativity.

These things will give you the ability to find inspiration.

I have so many ideas, I don't know how they're born. My life's vexation is what on earth do I do with this idea? How do I prioritize this? Can I put it off? Sometimes by delaying an idea, it dies. Sometimes it grows. I know by now not to talk about my ideas. If I mention it before I've made a sketch, it's gone. Inspiration, for me, is along the lines of the Silence joke: "Name me and you destroy me." I couldn't describe it, it's fleeting and random, and definitely not concrete.

Everything for me springs from daydreaming, essentially - Letting concepts float freely and stick onto each other like molecules in the primordial soup, and seeing if some of them form the basics of life.
While it's irritated my friends to watch me fall into a reverie at inappropriate times, usually I can smuggle some idea back across customs into the real world. The trick, of course, is separating the wheat ("What kinds of emotions do you feel if fascism appeals to you?") from the chaff ("I wonder what all the food in this grocery store would look like as poop..."), although of course it depends on what you're after. Bouncing ideas off of people is an excellent barometer for that.

I am inspired by nature, just driving down the road and seeing the textures and colors in the trees and landscapes turns me on. I love to watch sunsets, the colors there can be amazing. This is what inspires me. Then I like to take these impressions, and put in the majesty of animals. Then sometimes the news gets me going, and I will do the occasional paintings inspired by news. But mostly it is nature that gets me going.

For my paintings an idea is born from anything that sparks my mind and imagination. That can be something as exotic as doing the zipline and visiting the rain forrest in Costa Rica or as every day as cooking a meal. For example i did a painting called "Women Lorikeets and Watermelon". The idea came from visitng a wildlife place where I saw and interacted with some lorikeets. On the way home I stopped at the grocery store and bought some watermelon. So the idea was born to paint tropical women carrying watermelon on their heads with gorgeous colored birds peached on the melon and on their heads and shoulders.

For illustrations the ideas come from clients and assigned projects. But I will approach the project by total immersion, researching not only what something looks like but how it tastes, feels, is experienced. When I illustrated folktales from Africa and Brazil I took African and Brazillizn dance classes. When i wrote and illustrated "The Story of Hula" I studied hula, travleed to Hawaii, listened to Hawaiian music etc.

Everything is potential inspiration.

It usually stems from an old pear tree in the backyard. I think and stare at its trunk until something appears. Inspiration comes from the the silhouetted image of that old tree and its branches against a rising sun.

A challenge-free life would be great but, paradoxically, they do provide the most inspiration. Ideas also come from trying to help others.

I hardly go into a piece of work knowing 100% where it's going. I prefer to have a starting point and then let the image and my ideas bounce off one another. I usually says it's a very zen-like experience, but sometimes it's more like a violent purging of imagery. Inspiration comes from anywhere: my sketchbook, a feeling a get from a song, anything.

Ideas are easy. I don't self edit in the early stages. NO BAD IDEAS.

Inspiration. It's about working........Finding art and images that make you want to do your own work.

Science, philosophy, anything random, and anything I see can be translated to my page through image or even words. The work of others can greatly inspire because how it affects me i want to be able to do for others on an even greater level.
