How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration?
I took footstep from my father Mr.Shyam Krishan K.C.He had more than four decades experience in straw art field.Inspiration means Power to do something right.
My ideas and images come from my imagination. I let my imagination take over and it brings me to a place of calm where I lose track of time. My work focuses on the idea that everything in our universe is connected. Everything is in a relationship with everything else. This conviction is based on the fact that everything is made up of energy which is shown as glowing elements in my paintings.
I like to take shapes, lines, textures and colors to create a world from the imagination. Inspiration is everywhere – a red next to a blue, a line from a song, birds, gardens, dream scenes, a photo, a snippet of conversation. Painting wraps me in color and a language not heard but felt and seen.
An open lined image, an interesting texture, a delicious color, a special occasion, and the interplay of all these things usually set fire to an idea and thus a creation is born.
I like to surround myself with fairly well organised bits and bobs, and put pieces together until I feel happy with the design. Sometimes this comes really easily, often as soon as I find an interesting toy or piece of junk I already know what I will do with it, so I guess the inspiration comes from the components themselves. If designing isn't coming easily I leave it for a while, I have found with all areas of my life you can't force creativity!
Hearing old tales, legends, or snippets of history or ideas from the ancient world, sparks my imagination and fills my head with imagery. Sometimes it can be the smallest snippet, that creates the most detailed image.
Usually a small black and white sketch, about 2"x4", although recently i've been working from a concept. The small black and white sketches come from automatic movements which lead to a coherent or exciting visual idea. The concept came to me out of the "blue".
Inspiration is dunking cold mocha into an empty stomach at midnight, getting severe gastric pain and thinking deep philosophical thoughts while crapping on a toilet bowl.
mostly my ideas are inside my head, i sometime walk around and look for fabric stores to see interesting patterns and color combinations and i browse around in the internet and bump into unique designs :)
My inspirations are the people and things around me.
Life and events, feelings, nature, people, love etc.I live my art before it is put on canvas or paper.
An idea is born when there is a need for it. A handy tool you take out off the bag to meet a solution to the need.
Inspiration is a leverage to keep dreaming.

inspiration for me is seeing your friends have a good time, people being happy.
I take long walks during which time I "think" my thoughts.
During these moments of reflection, I often conjure up a phrase for a poem or a story idea for a post on my blog site.
On many occasion, I awake from a deep sleep in the middle of the night, and jot down dream sequences which are used in the creative process as well.
My ideas come from everything and anything. However I can say that events occurring in my life and emotions I am feeling at the time heavily influence me and my ideas. |
