What role does creativity play in your work? Do you have leeway to develop innovative ideas?
Creativity = Parallel + Multi-directional thinking..
There are conflicting needs, creativity is required for solving long term research type problems, but is less encouraged in the solving of urgent short term problems. Software development and systems engineering both require creative thinking and problem solving, and involve creating systems.
Creativity plays an important part in engineering. Though i haven't found its vital use in petroleum engineering except in the case of drilling tools and production technology.

You have to be creative to present adverts in such a way to attract you target audience, and to keep them interested.

Creativity plays a great role in environmental and construction project work. By focusing on new ways to approach a project, you can save massive amounts of money and time. In my engineering positions, I did have leeway to apply my ideas. I helped to save my employers in the millions of dollars on construction projects and overcoming & avoiding regulatory fees and fines.
In working with contractors, I have not been treated with as much respect and have had no leeway to help them save time and money with my ideas.
I get facinated by employing innovative ideas in problem solving. I enjoy in involving problem solving. Working with challenges of problemsolving of workers is my passion.If I can extend my time and effort to solve a few of technical issues and there by I can help workers .The highest prize we can receive for creative work is the joy of being creative.

Absolutely, listening carefully & taking peoples specifictaions or ideas and responding with suggestions for improvement or a new direction to consider all help getting to the best result
I love developing new ways of doing my everyday work and private things. If something is possible to be done easier, and more automatical, I try doing it.
Absolutely. Some people think that operations work is not creative but we are always thinking about ways to automate stuff and make our lives easier.
