What is your message?
Primarily my message is to retell the experience of contemporary
Black America. My goal is to merge autobiography with history. In
paint I am both the past and the present.
It varies depending on the book, but as an over view, I'd say that I explore my world through an artist's eye and try to share how I *see* with color, symbols, words, pattern.
I work with the paradoks: Nature versus culture
The purpose of art making is going beyond the propagation of a message to arrive at the subtle essence of it. Art touches people in unpredictable ways. An artist can not plan how the work is going to impact the viewer. Its mere presence matters. The work of art and the mind dynamically interact with each other. This organic ability makes art an ever evolving entity.
I think if I concentrated in the concept of having a message through my art, I will lose the effort I should spend in concentrating in the art piece and creating it. The passion for producing art and making it is very wild and comes out of the fog, very hard for me to categorize it under “a message”.
The message is already there in the art work. The artist shouldn’t say it out load directly. He has to let that part for the audience to taste it and appreciate it themselves.
I can say it is part of the message actually.
Very confusing.
The work should draw an emotion, but no message. Messages are pretentious and self serving. If there is a message in a piece than it comes from the viewer, and not me.
Not really one message. I'm mainly interested in traces people leave on earth. The beauty of a footprint left behind without knowing. The absurdity of existence also plays big role throughout my work.
BEING AN ARTIST IS A LIFE FORCE, NOT A CAREER CHOICE !
Artists, Writers, Musicians, in my opinion, all creative people, draw inspiration from those
who ' did and done' their passion and succeeded at it.
Surround yourself with positive people. Artists, surround yourselves with artists, people with like minds. Create together. It makes life so much more enjoyable.
Original? why bother? there is nothing new under the sun, just create and enjoy!
i just want to say if body can not be lie, its have a history by itself. So, the questions is why some peoples used their bodies, had lied to other persons about their identities!
All life is precious and deserving of the most profound respect.
I dont really have a message, just be creative.
Hmmmm good question.... I guess that it's ok to do what you love, that it doesn't have to be fine art or serious to be good. I think art of any kind is a powerful thing. So my message I guess is to "Let Fly" - someone will love & relate to what you do, but you have to put it out there. Oh and yeah - have fun with it!!! |
