I'm a folklore and fairytale artist. I will explore all kinds of styles and techniques for making art, from woodblock printing to sculpture, but I'm fascinated with fairytales, folktales, myths and mythology so much that it tends to dominate my work as a theme.
I am an artist exploring the disorientating phantasmagoria, and the redundancy of the image, inherent in contemporary culture
I'm a female erotic painter, my niche is female erotic art.
I draw and paint in what is called a figurative style, I prefer painting in oils and soft pastels for the most part. I’ve studied for about five years in a private Art School in Montreal and absorbed a wealth of technical knowledge and this has allowed me to evolve as an artist. For me, it is essential to be able to broach topics sometimes deemed taboo or not for polite company, I make no apologies, this is who I am.
Subject matter varies (still-life, landscape, portrait, etc.) dependent on what captivates my attention at the time. Sometimes, I paint what I see, with no special message and at other times, I paint the socially unacceptable, the raw experiences of life, especially in regards to violence against women. I cannot see myself using my talent as an artist without giving voice to what I feel matters.
I am coming into my own as an erotic painter and hope to share my art at many erotic shows throughout the world in the coming months and years. I want to show what simply is without judgment. Sensuality and sexuality, the erotic are beautiful components of humanity, the subtle heat in someone's eyes, the sultriness of lips, the sensual curves of a woman's body, all speak of the promise of happiness and joy, of discovery and play. For me, painting the female erotic is an act of pure feminism, it's my way of going against the flow of hatred and bigotry and violence in our world. I have no erudite narrative about my path as an artist nor do I feel compelled to invent one. I am an artist and I am communicating my particular and unique point of view.
Of course, my being a feminist and queer woman greatly influence how is see the world around me and i’m glad for it. I love the vibrancy of what the Impressionists brought the world, I am also a fan of Rembrandt and the old school masters. I find myself influenced by the strong women in my life and throughout history and try to honor this through what i paint.
I have had few awards for my work, mainly due to my not seeking them out. I have been awarded first prize for technique and composition at the school I studied in and also received an honorable mention at a rather large art show in Montreal, I think it was at the Place Bonaventure Hotel. Other than those, I have mainly been busy selling directly to clients. One of my paintings is in the private collection of the Blake family (Mr. Toe Blake’s daughter), another is hanging from the wall of a private College (Collège Français) in the Montreal area and many more have found homes all over the province, in Ontario as well as in the U.S.A. and even as far as Greece.
I am now living in the Lanaudière region of the province of Quebec and painting to my heart’s content. I’m hoping to share my art with all.
I am a poet, musician and visual artist. In my art, music and stories I seek to convey the beauty I see, hear and feel in the life around us. We are surrounded by the spirit of nature, the soul of sound and the dance of vision. The goal of art is to move us; move us to look inward or reach outward or stop and be still. All we have is here and now. This life before us, over our heads, under our feet, residing in our center is good. My art is an attempt to share this goodness with others while at the same time loving life again and again.
As a visual artist, I paint in gouache. Gouache is water-based paint, with the ability to be opaque or transparent. I consider myself a painter, not a water colorist because gouache is more like using oil than watercolors or plastic based paint. I make reproductions of my paintings using an inexpensive but a lasting technique. As a writer, I work on stories from my life, a collection called Wild Wisdom Highway, and Mi Querida Oaxaca--stories and journal entries from my life in Mexico. Poems come naturally since childhood. My goal when leaving college with a BA in English and an Art minor was to make visual art and write. My blog called Coyote Woman's Journal features my artwork, poetry, and other writings.....as well as photos. It centers around my life in Oaxaca, MX but expands into other areas of interest as well.
I am a painter, a poet, songwriter, singer, dancer, meditator or generally a creative human being. Creativity comes from an awareness of energy and how it gets channeled in communicating with others. For years I did psychic/spiritual Tarot readings, taught classes and gave healings. These too, I see as being creative activities. I feel that creating my life, expressing myself, is a work of art in process. For me, artistic expression has to do with giving voice to spirit.
Oil painting is my passion. I express myself on canvas with the best oil paints I can find. My inspiration comes from real life and a bit of imagination mixed together. I enjoy seeing my work in it's early stages and then watching it grow into a 3D piece of art. My website www.desrispoli.com is a great way to share my works with the world.
I create hand painted clocks made from recycled record albums. I have always loved to paint, sew, crochet, make jewelry, design interior spaces and gardens and more. I am always making things. Guests generally want to know if I sleep.
Mostly a painter.
I am a daily painter. In that vein, I try to start and finish a painting every day. In addition to working on longer term projects I also try to pull in community by organizing events among artists and local businesses as well as mentoring teens. Sometimes I find that doing my daily painting in public brings humor and levity to those able to come in contact with the work. I am trying to creatively make beautiful work and answer some existential questions as to why I am here, where I am supposed to be, what can I do.
I work in multi-media as a visual artist and as a writer, mostly poetry and memoir. My paintings are frequently collaged and include hand-carved stamps or photo transfers. I also delve into altered books, assemblage art and artist trading cards.
I have never thought much about where I "belong" as an artist, and i never much cared for any of that either. I have always just opened up my mind and my heart and lumped everything together on my paper or tablet. People seem to like it, and relate to it quite a bit! What matters most to me is creating that connection with people.
I currently reside in the 3rd density. I am a distant dreamer, a wanderer. I see the world differently from others. I live in the moment, seeing the beauty of the moment.
As a visual and imaginative artist, I work purely on impulse – When I set out to do a piece I do not have a plan laid out, I let my intuition, subconscious or higher self take over and just allow the creation to flow.
All of my work is a reflection of myself— To me Art is an intimate process of projecting myself and my perspective onto the world, and the images that I produce as a result exist as a very personal reflection of myself.
My art is a material reflection of my soul. My art represents my eternal processes of finding, understanding and defining myself. As I am ever evolving so too is my art ever evolving.
My aim is to provoke the viewer to delve deep within each piece and therefore deeper into their own psyche, perhaps observing or experiencing emotions that are not clearly apparent at first glance. I believe each painting should speak for itself - rather than to force an interpretation on the viewer.
As a painter I am defined by my surroundings, the lay of the land and the emotions that are attached to my environment. Time and presence with absence fascinates me and this is what I like to portray in my work. The immediacy of painting is something that is instinctual in me as an artist.
I have been a teddy bear artist for nearly 29 years. I create memories of a childhood past or simply wished for. My pieces are for collectors and not for children.
I run a small consultancy working across Europe, it is not art based. I also work as an artist painting and drawing and writing. I have an art blog website, a separate art website and some smaller site postings in Flickr. |
