What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist?
I am a compulsive painter, always have been.... if I can't paint thenI sublimate by doing some thing else...like making jewelry, playing with clay...etc...
I paint, and try to see the life with... humour
I make original, hand-painted, one of a kind folk art dolls in various sizes. I incorporate vintage items when practical & available. I love the idea of upcycling & turning something ordinary into something beautiful. I also create paintings on canvas, mostly with acrylics.
I am a kiln formed glass "artist" and teacher. This art form is more popularly known as glass fusing.
I am a contemporary artist, primarily focused on abstract painting and conceptual work. I am experimental and strive to be brave in my work.
I consider myself primarily a coloured pencil artist. I have been keen on pencils since I was a child although on occasions, I like to paint in acrylics or gouache. My other passion is digital art. I am a keen photographer and over the past 10 years have sought to combine this love with digital art. I enjoy drawing with my computer and want to develop this side of my art further.
Since my retirement from art teaching (36 years) in 2005, I have 'thrown' myself into my art, trying to find 'who I am' art-wise. I'm enjoying the challenge and feel that I am starting to get somewhere with art that identifies who I really am.
As well as my art I am an art judge, art curator (2 galleries) and art critic for a local radio station here in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia where I live.
I love blogging! I have two blogs, one for my art (http://artkleko.wordpress.com), and the other for my photography (http://artklekosphotoblog.blogspot.com).
I'm predominately an oil painter in a realistic style. I sometimes work in ink, pencil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor.
I love to create, I am a painter, and a writer.
I am a mixed media artist. I love mixing together all sorts of different elements that form layers. Layers are like history to me. Layers are indicative of the past, present and speak of the future. I carry with me the history of what I have learned from others in all creative senses. I turn that into my personal taste, touch and history which in turn will be used or form an impression on others. As an artist it is up to me to create connections between my environment, my community and myself. In general terms I try to take all of those layers and speak to people in a way that may not be verbally communicable. But it is work that people are affected by.
I paint in oils in the Abstract Imaginistic style.
I create abstract and landscape inspired paintings on canvas.
To communicate a moment in a non-verbal manner.
Also experimenting with digital art for print on demand.
I am a calligraphry at heart - a real good old fashoined crafter. I work by hand and make everything I sell. I scribe texts, make cards, make books and albums, and topper for other crafters to use. I also take commissions.
My style is very modern - bright and colourful, full of shaped, patterns and textures.
The simple answer to this question is that I'm a painter. It would be difficult for anyone to envision my work without a visual, so of course I'd recommend viewing my website www.AmyGuidry.com. That said, I would describe my work as surreal, contemporary, and highly detailed.
I paint from my imagination using symbols and archetypes.
I paint ideas generally. |
