ARCHITECTURE
Can one copy and still be original?
original, they can for person they will the copy..but they will do in no original them relate to one...
yes
I believe one can copy certain elements of a project, tweak them and then become original.
Adpated not copy
Regardless of what any architect says, they are copying... barrowing ideas from the past, and adapting them. And, this is good... it should be this way, as it's akways been. An architect who attempts to reivent the wheel each project is doing so solely for their own ego... say they can declare uniqueness, to feed the notion that being different us what's required to be deaned a special/worthy professional/person. It's a transparent, immature and inconsiderate way to live ones life and perform ones work. Plus, an architect's personality will in some small way impact the design, without trying to do so. That should be sufficient given the idea that the client and the public are the greatest considerations.
Even more so now than ever before. We live in a creative commons / mash-up culture. And mad originality is always an idea away.
The whole of culture is learning from what went before, the question is a matter of degree.
It might be interesting for your readers to check out pages 27 and 28 of a lecture about library design that I gave to students at the University of Bath and posted on my blog on 11 March 2010. I would be interested to hear their views. http://www.humanearchitecture.com/blog/
We should learn from each other and develop our own styles. Copying is for lazy people
copy is a copy, not so original. but idea of concept can come from everything
Yes. Novelty is overrated.
no copy is ever identical, and it's better to make a good copy, than a poor invention
Yes, one can copy and still be original. But one shouldnt copy entirely.
When one is 'inspired' and make something 'original'..
we call it 'invention' or 'innovation' not 'copy'.
But when one copy, then it's just a copy. not original.
Yes, maybe everything is done. But every reinterpretation is new. Plus when you add your style its a new design
Yes. Everything is copied to one degree or another.
We can re interpretate, evolution, take ideas from the greatest but never copy the all idea or project, in order to be original to our owns ideas |
