For how long have you done photography? How did you begin?

On and off all my life. Seriously, the last ten years.

What has been your education as a photographer?

Mostly, I'm self taught. I had a couple college classes and a couple more after that. But I read alot and I was lucky because in my former job, I worked with some of the best photogs around. And they were great teachers.

What is your favourite type of photography?

Rural landscapes, abstract, macro style florals and people

What do you try to express through your photography?

It's whatever moves me at the time. I'm totally in the moment behind the camera.

How do you choose your subjects?

It depends. If it's for a client, I'll shoot anything they want. If its for my portfolio, its' whatever moves me within a particular subject area. Like barns, animals, etc.

Are you a good salesperson of your work? In what should you improve?

I'm getting better at it. Photography, if you want to be financially successful at it, is so much marketing. Luckily, I'm pretty good at it. But it takes lots of time.

Which past masters of photography do you most admire?

The pioneers who moved it from a hobby to an art form. Adams, Weston, Steichen and those guys. Contemporary guys like the Muenches, Kristen Westlake. There are so many

Do you consider yourself more technical or more artistic?

Artistic, but you've got to know the basic technical stuff, too
