ENTREPRENEUR
 | What is the business idea that you are working on right now? How did you come up with it? Gluten free mischief is working on a range of gluten free candies, including chocolate bars, caramels, fruit jellies and truffles.
The idea came about because I have a passion for cooking and being coeliac I was tired of boring treats, so decided to come up with a new and exciting range. The sweets are all natural, delicious and preservative free. |
 | Is there a website, blog or social media link where we can see more about your project and/or yourself? The blog describes gluten free mischief in quite some detail. Information regarding the sweets range will be posted in the coming weeks.

 | What is your professional background? What were you doing before? I graduated from university with an engineering degree and am now working in media. I work on my buisness outside work hours. |
 | How did the entrepreneurial spirit rise up in you? Were you exposed to entrepreneurship in your family or your social environment when you were a child? My family have been entrepreneurs, especially my Dad who runs his own business. I have grown up around that environment knowing that I wanted to work for myself. Ever since I graduated and experienced the corporate culture I have realized it's not for me in the long run. At the moment it allows me to learn a lot of valuable business and life lessons as I plan my business for the future. The entrepreneur in me is rising and it won't be long until I am out doing my own thing. |
 | Do you have partners working with you on this? How do you split the work with them? I work on the cooking and product development alone, but I have a business partner who helps to handle the business end of things. It's a great balance and helps us to both focus on our strengths, which balances out really well. |
 | Describe your business plan as briefly and simply as possible. The aim at the moment is quite simple. It is to develop a quality product range of 4-5 products, which are still in testing. From there we want to take the products to the local markets to test the reaction of customers. From he we will decide if it is worth taking the next steps, which I hope will lead to distribution in local stores (smaller businesses). |
 | What have you achieved up to now? What have you yet to achieve? Until now I have started to develop two great products, which I am now expanding to three others. I am still teaching myself cooking techniques and I have invested in cooking school after work to hone my skills. I am yet to achieve completing the range, which I hope to do in the next two months before going to market. |
 | Are you looking for investors? What are you offering in exchange for what? I am not looking for investors at this stage until I have the product range finalized and proof from the markets. Until this is achieved and we have a solid product that is popular will we then seek investment to manufacture the products on a larger scale. This is quite some time away. |
 | Do you have employees or people that you outsource tasks to? What do they do? No, at the moment it is just myself and my business partner. |
