ART
What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist? I am a graphic designer. If I had to define my self I'd say that I am an artist with an edge. A flair for creativity and eccentricity.
What is your message? To be inside of "the box" is to be inside of "the box", but to stand outside is to see the world in a very different perspective.
| Your biography in four lines. Grew up with the feeling to want everything and able to afford nothing.
I found so much passion in the ability to create art.
Hard work has paid off.
I know subject all my thoughts to God. |
Do you upload your work to the web? If so, where could we see it? Jamuse
How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration? Most idea for me are more or less epiphanies. That light bulb that seems to turn on for no apparent reason.
What role does technology play in your creative process? Technology plays a major part. Ideas have been stored as templates and have become a common place with programs. These same ideas have been altered and transformed, which adds to any ones creative process.
What is art? Art is anything that is.
When do you get your best ideas? When God allows me to have them.
How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not? My work is appreciated by others so who am I to judge some one's tastes and judgement.
Three creative ideas that you would have liked to have created? Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop... three programs a graphic designer cannot live without.
When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist? It started when I was 8yrs old. I was copying drawings that a friend did that I thought were so great! I started drawing my own characters and have not stopped since then.
Why do so many artists and creators have such volatile personalities? I have no idea... maybe because my personality is not volatile.
Do you consider yourself postmodern? I can be. that's hard to say, because it depends on what the client is looking for as far as style goes.
How should a work of art be evaluated? As great! At times, the person viewing the piece of work, cannot come close to producing a piece of work as compelling.
Must an artist reinvent him/herself everyday? It would be good for growth. I just think that as we age year to year, our work should show the same maturity. That is to also say reinventing ones self.
Which artists do you admire and how do they influence your work? I do not study different artists... but I do see artwork that is very influential.
What do you think about public funding for the arts? I wouldn't be against it at all. Just as long as it is equally accessible to all arts
Is art necessary? of course it is. It is dreams that are recreated.
Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold? Never! Someone loved it as much as I did! I impacted someones life, some way or another.
Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought? It's purhcased
In art, there is no guide. How do you know what the next step is? You don't! That is the beauty of art, finding a path without direction. Sometimes life is like that and it becomes a journey!!
How do you feel about the fact that the pieces exhibited in contemporary art museums are often of artists already deceased? That is the way it has always been. Is it fair? Probably not, but when you die your ideas become limited and therefore it becomes priceless at the same time.
What role have the figures of art dealer, gallery owners, representatives, and intermediaries in general played in your career? I don't use any of their services so, they play no role at all.
What types of jobs do you usually do? Corporate Identity, Logos, Business Cards, Menus, and Book Covers. Those are just to name a few.
Which of your jobs or tasks do you most enjoy? All of them. I love a task that will push my creative fervor
Do you personally collect any items? None
Which websites do you frequently visit? Jamuse
What advice would you give to those just beginning? Keep practicing! Remember that nothing is perfect, and due to that there is always room to improve.
