herman Bergson [hermanbergson]

What subjects do you teach? What types of students do you have?
I teach a philosophy class in a virtual world twice a week. You'll find me in Second Life for lecturing on 1 PM PDT every Tuesday and Thursday. My students are people from all over the world, of all ages and backgrounds. Since September 2007 I delivered 209 lectures till now (October 2009) For info you can check out the URL of The Philosphy Class
Can you provide a link to a site where we can see something about what you do or the center where you work?
How have your past experiences prepared you for teaching? How did you become interested in education?
I have been a college professor for 30 years and I am now retired. I lectured on philosophy for 10 years (got my university degree in philosophy) and I taught computerclasses in Art for 20 years thereafter. In my Second Life , virtual world, I just continue both.
What is the most challenging aspect of teaching for you?
The most challenging are my students and their questions.....
What kind of relationship do you have with your students?
The relationship with my students is virtual, but yet very personal. Even a virtual world group can become a real group.
Would it be a good thing if teachers had economic incentives based on student performance?
Dont make me laugh....
What are some ways you have incorporated technology into the classroom.
My classroom is created 100% by technology and can not exist without technology.
What are your professional goals? Where do you want to be in five years?
By that time I want to get my doctorate in philosophy by writing a dissertation on a subject of the Philosophy of Mind.
