Interview with:

Jacobus van Eeden [jacobusvaneeden]

JOURNALISM
What is your specialty? What subjects do you deal with?
I specialise in tech and social media journalism, especially in emerging markets.
In which media do you presently work or have you worked?
I'm currently a writer for Memeburn.com focussing on emerging markets. Perviously I was a marketing manager for Panda Security International in charge of Sub-Saharan Africa and a marketing manager for Dax Data, a official Adobe distributor for Southern Africa.
Please list a web address where where one can view an example of your work.

Do you feel that analytical and investigative journalism is being lost?
No, blogging and the web in general has opened the way the 'news' is being reported up, but for a deeper understanding of an issue or quality analysis the paper and and classic investigative journalist is still the best source of information.
Would you say the journalism blog is revolutionizing the profession?
Yes, it has given new life to a profession that used to be only for the few who worked at papers ect, but with the age of blogging 'journalism' has become a domain that is no longer restricted. Everyone can be a journalist now, but that doesn't mean that every blogger is one.
BLOGGING
What blogging system have you adopted and why?
I tend to favour Wordpress, since it's so well supported and has an over-abundance of plugins and extensions.
