SPORTS
What is your sport, and what level of commitment do you have to it?
All Shooting Sports, pistol,rifle,shotgun,archery,paintball.
Can you provide a link to a site where we can get to know more about you or your sports activity?
www.atsn.tv/Youtube/Pursuit Channel
How did you get started? Who introduced you to the sport?
My Father with my first Daisy BB gun @ 8 yrs old
Who was the sports idol that impressed you the most as a child? And who impresses you now?
I had two Uncles who played Hockey and encouraged me to pick a Sport that I had some natural ability. I loved the outdoors, finding animal sign and stalking. Spent much of my childhood in the woods alone watching nature and learning animal habits.
Do you have a coach/trainer who guides and helps you? What is your relationship with that person like?
Since my Sport is shooting I have developed many relationships with Instructors across the country.
Who have been your best teammates? Why?
Most shooting sports are individual by nature.
How does your emotional state effect your physical performance?
Shooting Sports are a mental game when it comes to competition. A "bad day" is usually a result of lack of concentration and focus.
How has your sport helped your personal growth?
I have enjoyed the friendships made in the shooting sports and the discipline required to be successful.
Which gives more satisfaction: to surpass a rival, or to surpass yourself?
No question it is about surpassing yourself.
What methodology do you use to improve your technique? A special technology?
The best equipment coupled with Practice Practice Practice....
There are some who are addicted to the endorphins produced by exercise. Is that a problem?
I have often wanted to write a book with a title something like..." I love getting in shape but hate staying in shape" There comes a point in exercise for me when it becomes boring. I stop for a few months, eat my favorite foods put on some weight and start back into an exercise program. Then repeat the same over and over. So the addiction you refer to is not a problem for me.
What other sports or competitions do you follow closely? What magazines or websites do you use to keep up to date?
I am a big football fan "GO TEXANS"....and I read many shooting web sites around the world daily.
How do you control negative thoughts after a mistake, such as hitting a ball into your own team's goal or getting off to a bad start?
yes...one of the most difficult mental challenges a shooter can confront in the world of competition. I try to focus on the best shot I did in a stage or station and pat myself on the back a lot...lol..
How do you feel the public influences your performance?
Not much...most shooters tend to be positive towards one another. Not a problem.
Is it a good thing to have a certain amount of rivalry among members of a team?
In terms of fun, yes. A few side bets and lots of joking with one another is very supportive.
Is there telepathy in the way some moves are coordinated among team members?
Humm...not sure I can answer that. I do not shoot on a team.
Is it necessary for someone to be the head of a team so that it can reach its full potential?
I absolutely believe there must be a Team Leader.
Have you have suffered any serious injuries? How is morale maintained during recovery?
No I have been fortunate not to have had an injury that prevented me from competing.
Is sport a social sublimation of war?
I can see where some sports may be...but not for me.
Should technology be used to replace referees in sports events?
Yes and No...you need both.
Knowing how to deceive the adversary can help gain points. How is this ability acquired?
In my Sport the higher you rise the more strategy you need to win.
What plans do you have for yourself? What do you want to achieve?
As the Host of a TV Show I try to balance my shooting achievements with my work. Bottom line..I would like to become more successful in the Media end of the Sport.
What advice do you have for those just starting out?
In Shooting...get good Instruction and keep getting instruction. Then spent a lot of time on the range. Go to Competitions and keep going to Competitions. You will learn much from fellow competitors.
