PHOTOGRAPHY
Do you have an online gallery where one can view your photos? http://www.jc-ruiz.com
For how long have you done photography? How did you begin? I've always dabbled in photography but I did not make a serious push into until 2005. It just started out as a hobby and I quickly made it a passion of mine. Since 2005 I've done a little bit of everything photography wise.
What has been your education as a photographer? As far as my education goes, i've been pretty much self taught. What I learn from reading books, blogs and forums I go practice out in the field. I think you can learn the basics from books etc. but to truly learn aspects of photography you must be constantly shooting
What is your favourite type of photography? My favorite type of photography is landscape. I love capturing sun rises and sunsets. The colors are always amazing.
What do you try to express through your photography? I try to express how a certain scene or photo looks from my perspective. I try to invoke emotion from the person viewing the photo.
How do you choose your subjects? I normally choose subjects that are of interest to me. I try not to shoot what others shoot or in the same manner etc. I always like to be creative and shoot things the way I see or want to see them etc.
What type of preparation do you do before undertaking the photo session? I usually go and scout the location to see which time has the best light. I make sure I have all the gear needed to capture the shot etc.
Do you normally photograph with a purpose already in mind, or do you let yourself go with the flow? A little bit of both. Some times I have a purpose and other times I just let the moment take me where it wants to. Some great photos are the ones that are unplanned
Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why? Nikon, but all brands are great cameras. I chose Nikon because I loved the way it felt in my hand
| Describe your current equipment: cameras, lenses, computers, accessories... Camera: Nikon D300
Lenses: Nikon 70-200 f/2.8, Nikon 24-70 F/2.8, Nikon 35mm f/1.8, Tokina 12-24 f/4
Flash: Nikon SB-900, Vivitar 285 |
What software and plug-ins do you use to retouch and manage your photos? I do most of my major editing in Adobe Lightroom and use Photoshop for touch ups. I have the Nik Suite for my plug-ins
What measures do you take to protect your work against Internet piracy? I watermark my photos and also update the meta data with my copyright photo information
