BLOGGING
 | What is your blog address? What subjects do you deal with? I actually have a few sites that I blog on. My sites are www.jenhinton.com and www.theclassycloset.com. My personal blog, www.jenhinton.com, is a lifecast where I speak about new media and my family. The Classy Closet social network is a style site that is member content driven. |
| What was it that made you create your blog? On what date did you start it? I began blogging in June 2008 because I wanted to express myself creatively and found that there is an amazing sense of community online! |
| What blogging system have you adopted and why? I believe that blogging is good for those who write well. I do not and have really found that vlogging(video blogging) is best for me. I vlog most of my daily life and that is why you will see my blog is more a lifecast. |
| How many visits a day do you get? What type of comments do you receive? I usually receive over 150 visits per day by mostly women readers who are interested in new media and technology. |
| How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life? Blogging has been very instrumental in my life because it has opened doors to wonderful things such attending conference to meet like-minded people and speaking engagements. I have also met some of the most fascinating people my becoming a blogger. |
| Have you created relationships with other bloggers or readers of your blog? Almost all of my readers are someone I have reached out to and have made an online connection with to some extent! |
| How often do you post? Does regular posting of your blog require a lot of effort on your part? I normally post five times a week. I like to post only when I have true content because I want my readers to be interested and hopefully engage by leaving comments. |
| Does blogging bring in income for you? Can one make a living from posting? One thing that people must know about the income involved in blogging is that you are not going to become instantly wealthy form blogging. It is the opportunities that come out of social media as a whole that will gain you income. |
| How do you promote your blog? I promote my sites on Twitter and my online tv and radio show. I host a morning talk show, www.chickswhochat.com, that not only allows me to promote who I am but also other bloggers. My online tv show is on www.momtv.com and is a place for my husband and I to chat about our consulting business www.geekchicmedia.com. It is also a place where I can take my home life and share it will my online community. |
| How would you define your readers? Have you got a faithful audience? I can completely say that my audience is a faithful one. I have been through a few weeks of not posting and the minute I come back there are people there reminding me that my posts are important. |
| Are there any blogs you follow daily or regularly? |
| How do you see your blog evolving in the future? I hope that I continue to write on the things I love so I think my blog's content will remain relatively the same but I think the platforms I use will probably evolve! |
| What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog? The best advice I could give a new blogger is blog because you are passionate about what you are talking about, be consistent, and be yourself no matter what! |
