What is your specialty? What subjects do you deal with?
my specialties are media studies, anything about the media per se. for particular subject, i'm quite advance in communities media, feminist media, movement media, and other branches come from cultural studies.

i've worked in the lifestyle magazine, community (area) newspaper, feminist media and online media

What is "news"?
news is a collection of facts n briefly explain 5W+1H of one events. The news used to be put in a frame which chosen based by the media ideology.
To you, what is objectivity?
objectivity, is one principal in news coverage in terms of neutrality, detachment and impartiality. The journalist should cover the events as it is, and not fabricate any details. Honestly, i doubt that this principal exist since nobody in this whole world could purely detach of situations he/she involves in.
What is the best headline you have ever read?
u should see many extravagant headlines in the Indonesian Yellow journalism..they blend the content of the news to the headlines so the headlines go really long enuf to be a headline
What headline would you like to see printed one day in the newspaper?
Never done before, finally Israel agreed upon the two-state resolution!
Which paper do you buy on Sundays? Where do you read it?
never buy newspaper on sunday..it's a holiday anyway..hehe
Does freedom of expression end where the editorial line begins?
i presume editorial line really facilitates the idea of freedom of expression
Do you feel that analytical and investigative journalism is being lost?
nope..it's quite growing here in Indonesia. Journalism to some extent needs any analysis and comprehensive details brought out by the journalist.
With a camera on every mobile phone, is every citizen becoming a correspondent?
it depends on the intention. The liberalization of writing is on the move with a mobile phone. I agree that everybody could tell a story from everywhere by their mobile phones. Yet, it still needs other to edit the report once it gets into the public sphere.
How would you explain the boom of the tabloid press?
it's a general reaction towards commercialism in the media. everybody wants to know other people's life..and the capitalist creates so-called gossip 'news' to feed the insatiable people..
What is your position regarding the right to privacy of famous people?
i suppose people should respect the other's right to privacy, as long as the right to privacy doesn't justify any domestic violence enacted towards their children or spouse.
What can you teach us about the art of the interview?
do the prior research, prepare the questions (open-ended is preferred), go to bed early, have a 'warming-up' conversations with the interviewee (ask casual questions), and start questioning..

Indonesian celebrities, models and politicians..i forget about the details.
Would you say the journalism blog is revolutionizing the profession?
yes definitely, journalism blog have changed the way a professional journalist ever thought. the most crucial part of journalism is the delivery part. in the journalism blog, everyone could respond to other's report at the same time. the freedom of speech is really applied, and this is the core of civic journalism.
Will the paper press disappear?
probably. If only, the digital divide in a country could be eroded. Yet, people in a third world country still looks for a paper press every morning.
What are your thoughts of the free papers distributed in cities?
we should take a vigilant look of any free papers circulated in our cities. i believe the free papers that really in touch with most of the people in town are the one that really consists of public informations and general needs, and none of them shall contain pornography or other sexual materials n indecent texts that can't be consumed by juveniles.
What is the book you would like to write?
i like to write a book, about travel, leisures and about my personal life-journeys.
Is there a motto or ethical principle that clarifies your decisions in moments of confusion?
i shall speak for the truth, no matter what! the framing could create a vague image of my writing (if it's a sensitive truth) whereas i could convey the real truth about an event.
What advice would you give to someone who has just left university and wishes to start in the profession?
feel free to express your thoughts n minds. working in a corporate magazine is somewhat frustrating but keep pursuing your boss to assure them that u can create a good writing by your own ideas.
