 | What do you do? How do you define yourself as an artist? I'm a professional fantasy/portrait traditional artist .My style of art is realism I specialize in pencil hand drawn portraits and fantasy paintings. I love drawing and painting, fairy tales , mythology , Gothic, Mermaids , Angels ,Inspirational Religious Christian Art and anything that inspires me. |
 | What is your message? I believe God gives us all a special talent and gift and it's up to us how we take care of those special talents either be the ability to teach, draw, sing, dance whatever God has given us he has also provided us the will, patience and wisdom to do them well. I thank God for the heavenly gift of art he has blessed me with. |
 | Your biography in four lines. I come from a Greek background
i was raised, lived and currently reside in Queens N.Y
I'm a self taught artist ,art came very natural
to me from a very young age, a couple of years ago
i decided to pursue my art career professionally
since then i had my work published, licensed, sold
a lot of unexpected good things happened , i feel
very blessed and grateful. |
 | Do you upload your work to the web? If so, where could we see it? |
 | How is an idea born? For you, what is inspiration? Inspiration for me can come from anywhere, nature, books, movies , people ,dreams , music ..the list goes on. |
 | What role does technology play in your creative process? Major role! It helped me put my work
out there to share it ,market it. Most of my clients
have found me from my website or other online
galleries i frequent,it has played a significant role
for me. |
 | What is art? Art is expressive, beautiful, creative , unique and it can
be many different things to many people. |
 | When do you get your best ideas? It comes out of the blue i really don't
have a specific day or time when i get
ideas it just happens. |
 | How do you evaluate whether an idea is good or not? I usually know when i start sketching
if after a couple of sketches i can see the
finished drawing or painting in my head,...then
i know it's good and i continue,
if i struggle and i don't see it, then i put it aside. |
 | When and how did you begin to see yourself as an artist? I always saw myself as an artist even
when it was just a hobby for me :) |
 | Must an artist reinvent him/herself everyday? Trying new things is good but if an artist is happy
with their style of art and the subjects they chose to
draw or paint then they should continue to do what they love. |
 | Which artists do you admire and how do they influence your work? I admire so many artists from pencil artists to painters, from Classic Pre-Raphaelites Neoclassic artists like John William Waterhouse,John William Godward
to current amazing fantasy artists that influence my work everyday, it would really be impossible to list all of them, there are just too many :) |
 | What do you think about public funding for the arts? I think Art should be supported. |
 | Is art necessary? YES!! art is necessary not only for the creator the artist
but for the viewer too. |
 | Does it pain you to let go of a piece you have sold? Yes and no,
yes it's always a bittersweet feeling letting go of something
you worked hard at but knowing something i created with my
hands was loved enough to be in someones home or collection brings
me a lot of joy and happiness. |
 | Is a work of art purchased, or is it better said, that it is the artist who is bought? I think the art is purchased not the artist. |
 | How do you feel about the fact that the pieces exhibited in contemporary art museums are often of artists already deceased? I feel classic artists that passed away should be
remembered and respected however i do think it's sad
and un-fair for the living artists not to see their work
receive the same respect or attention while they are alive,
there are amazing artists out there. |
 | What role have the figures of art dealer, gallery owners, representatives, and intermediaries in general played in your career? None, i haven't dealt with art dealers or gallery owners, i like to self represent myself and I'm very proud of what i accomplished so far on my own. |
 | What types of jobs do you usually do? I do a lot of commission work in pencil work, hand drawn portraits of people, faces, animals and a lot of fantasy artworks in paintings of faeries , mermaids, fairytale, mythology, dark gothic art,RGP characters, and christian inspirational religious ...i have also done novel/book cover art. |
 | Which of your jobs or tasks do you most enjoy? Either be my fantasy artworks or non-fantasy ones the most i enjoy drawing or painting are portrait related, i love capturing a smile, expression, emotions. |
 | Do you personally collect any items? Yes i do since i was little i always loved collecting or starting collections it could have been something simple like napkins or stamps,...right now i have a huge shell collection, a teddy bear collection, porcelain dolls collection and the list goes on. |
 | Which websites do you frequently visit? |
 | What advice would you give to those just beginning? Just follow your dreams, continue drawing or painting
what inspires you , be prepared to receive criticism
but don't let it get you down, with every new artwork you will
create you will learn more.
