ILLUSTRATION
What is your specialty in illustration?
Character design, graphic design and background work
What are your regular clients like? What do they expect from you?
My regular clients are usually reasonable and when it comes to deadlines. Yeah I've been lucky so far. They usually just expect to recieve grade A work from me...:)
Have you completed formal art studies, or are you self-taught?
I went to school for graphic design but other than that I taught myself everything else.
How did you get your first full assignment? What did it involve?
Got my first full assignment because of the work I submitted on an art community called Deviantart. It was a very intricate character design job that I had to do in pencil...no color. It was cool because at that time I really didn't color as much as I do now.
What past or present day illustrators do you admire most?
hmmm....I love Rockwell, Frank Frazzeta, Leonardo DaVinci...can't get anymore Genuis than these guys...:)
How similar are your current drawings to those you did as a child?
Ha!! My art changes every 8 to 9 years so yeah...it's drastically changed from the time I was a kid.
What was your favorite comic book as a child?
Didn't really read comics until I was like 14 or so. Don't think I had a favorite but I did dig Dale Keown's Hulk comic back in the 90's
Do you have a particular style, or does it vary a lot?
My art style pretty much varies. It spawned from me being bored of having a single style as a kid...hehe
What is hardest to draw?
hmmm....gotta get back to ya on that.
What type of music do you listen to while you work?
most of the time nothing. I like to listin to my thoughts when working.
Do you have a favorite work of art?
The one that I'll never make.
What do you do when a client simply says "I don't like it"?
It's usually edited until they do...hehe.
What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately?
Watercolor in Photoshop 7....I think I might have did it.
What part of your work do you do on paper and what part digitally?
sometimes I draw my characters and scan them in and color it up in Photoshop. Most of the time it's %100 digital these days
What research do you do for your illustrations?
Depends on what it is I'm working on. I'll get crazy with it if I have to though.
Do you have colleagues with whom you share techniques, tricks, ideas, etc.?
Yeah. Sometime me and a couple of pretty talented friends of mines sometimes discuss that stuff over skype. I so love skype.
Do you have any specific goals as an illustrator?
Owning my own school.
What illustration web sites do you frequent?
kizer180.deviantart.com ......well I do. hehe
What are you working on now?
A book with a group of artist friends and concepts for a couple of animated flickypoos
What advice do you have for someone who likes to draw and would like to make a living from it?
Don't give up......Please I beg of you. :)
