Each time they have given me the strength and support and circumstances through which one passes - teach you the most. |
 | What is your educational philosophy? In a class, be the facilitator
Each child is a thinking individual with his/her own line of thought and belief-
Just give them a slope- so they can run. |
 | What is the most challenging aspect of teaching for you? Management |

Friendly but not friends |

Grading and marking - should be done between previous work n current work

Moderation in expectation from the child so that he/she stops working under percentage pressure |
 | What are some ways you have incorporated technology into the classroom. We are kind of behind in this area- but still i try to use computers - preparing slide-shows etc- but this is done as per the availability of the resources |
 | In light of new technologies, do we need to reinvent the school, its methods and objectives? yes
a lot of undoing and re doing- by both- the management and the teacher - would definately help |
 | If you could create the ideal school, what would it be like? Ideal situations hardly exist- but to make the existing situation ideal by hard work and sharp mind - would bring results |
 | What do you think schools will be like in 20 years? I can see technology replacing teachers |
 | What are your professional goals? Where do you want to be in five years? I want to teach and make a difference |
 | What qualities would you need to see in someone before advising him/her to go into teaching? I have my twelve commandments- when i enter my class
If you have those- welcome aboard
They are-
1.Stay calm. (and collect).
2.Find the cause (deal with the ‘why’ factor) for a particular type of behavior.
3.If a child seems to be stressed out use de-stressing techniques (use your observation skills).
4.Never threaten a child. Severe consequences create a negative and unsafe classroom atmosphere. Always think a 100 times before saying something insensitive.Remember the 3 golden rules
1- TACT
2- TACT
3- TACT
5.Use proactive language. Minimum use of negative words like don’t, no, stop, etc. (remember- the forbidden fruit is always sweeter).
6.Give rewards-like stars, happy-face, Barbie and Pokemon stickers etc. This really motivates them.
7.Give 4 +tive reinforcers for 1 –tive.
8.Constantly give your approval and build their self confidence.
9.Establish a routine which they HAVE to follow. End result-a very organized class.
10.Anticipate and have a contingency plan ready (remember Mrs. Treadgold’s advice)
11. Act as a guide and mentor-never try to force your view on the child. Plant the seed of an idea in the child’s mind and see it germinate and grow on its own.
12.Last but not the least, use your intuition(remember the sixth
sense?). |
