For how long have you done photography? How did you begin?

I’ve been photographing people for 10 years and weddings for 6 years. I have photographed over 100 weddings.

What has been your education as a photographer?

I have a B.A. in Fine Art Photography from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA and a M.A. in Commercial Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design. I make sure to keep up to date on the latest technology and trends in the wedding photography industry.

How do you choose your subjects?

My clients pick me!

Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why?

I shoot with digital Nikons. My two main cameras are both D-700's. I have two SB-900 flashes and 2 Gary Fong Diffusing Domes. My main lenses that I use most frequently are NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G, 50mm 1.8f, 35mm 1.8f, 45mm tilt shift. I shoot in RAW format, which are very large files. So I carry about 30 Gigs of memory cards with me. During the editing and retouching process I then compress the files into JPEG format, which is easy for anyone with a computer to view.

Describe your current equipment: cameras, lenses, computers, accessories...

I have listed these above but I also have a Travel Lite kit with two heads and two umbrellas for a photobooth set-up. I have a iMac and a Macbook Pro.

What software and plug-ins do you use to retouch and manage your photos?

I individually edit each one of the photos I release to my clients (600-800).

Are you a good salesperson of your work? In what should you improve?

I am not a pushy salesperson because I'm a natural artist. I don't want to sell you something that you don't need. My main goal is to make my customer happy!

When should one use film, and when should one use digital?

I currently shoot 99% digital but offer Holga photography also. Many of my brides have me take 2-3 rolls of Holga film during the wedding day!

Is there any particular technique that you could share?

I would consider my style to be a mixture of editorial (images you would see in a magazine), artistic, and photojournalistic. I enjoy delicate pastel coloring and soft lighting.
