WRITING
 | What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote? I've always loved good writing and started professionally in 97. My first article appeared in The Cambridgeshire Journal in 2000 |

 | What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write? I get inspiration from clients, other writers and general media |
 | What type of reading inspires you to write? Great journalism |
 | What do you think are the basic ingredients of a story? Most importantly a great hook - something to draw the reader in and make them deteemnied to find out more |
 | What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person? First |
 | What well known writers do you admire most? George Orwell and Ian McEwan |
 | What is required for a character to be believable? How do you create yours? It has to be based in reality to the extenet that the reader can identify with the character. |
 | Are you equally good at telling stories orally? Not something I've ever tried! |
 | Deep down inside, who do you write for? My audience - the written word is there to be read |
 | Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force? No - I like to be at one with myself when I'm writing |
 | Does reader feed-back help you? Yes, it's great to know what people think |
 | Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards? Yes and no! |
 | Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust? Often with my wife |
 | Do you believe you have already found "your voice" or is that something one is always searching for? It can change over time so it's something that is constantly evolving |
 | What discipline do you impose on yourself regarding schedules, goals, etc.? It's good to set a goal every day - what it is varies but without it it's very easy to get sidetracked. |
 | What do you surround yourself with in your work area in order to help your concentrate? Very little - clutter clutters the mind! |
 | Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process? I write on a computer and do all corrections on it until the second to last darft, which I print and read through |

 | What has been your experience with publishers? Bad! |
 | What are you working on now? A travel article about Thailand |
 | What do you recommend I do with all those things I wrote years ago but have never been able to bring myself to show anyone? Try it - you don't know until you try! |
