 | What is your favourite type of photography? portrait/cinematic |
 | What do you try to express through your photography? sometimes a sense of quirk/personality and sometimes a sense of mood and place but always a story the viewer can finish. |
 | How do you choose your subjects? curiosity |
 | What type of preparation do you do before undertaking the photo session? research online what has and hasn't been done with the subject before.
then i do layouts of concepts. |
 | Do you normally photograph with a purpose already in mind, or do you let yourself go with the flow? purpose |
 | Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sigma, Olympus, Sony, Pentax...which do you place your bets on and why? canon but really any that is in my hands. i've likes and shot with most. |

 | What software and plug-ins do you use to retouch and manage your photos? blur/contrast/curves/levels/vignette/ selective masking. |
 | What measures do you take to protect your work against Internet piracy? crossing fingers. |
 | Are you a good salesperson of your work? In what should you improve? i'm articulate on what i like and why i shoot what i do but not really selling it. i have people for that that are way better than me. |
 | Which past masters of photography do you most admire? saul Leiter, william eggleston, martin parr, avedon, |
 | Are technology and digital retouching reducing the gap between professionals and amateurs? yes. |
 | What is your team of habitual collaborators like? assistants, make up, hair, producer, set designer, agent, stylist |
 | With which other photographers do you normally team up with or do sessions with? none really |
 | Do you consider yourself more technical or more artistic? both even i think. like to think of myself as more artistic but technical skill help tell my story as well. |
 | What have you learned about the art of framing and composition? closer is better |
 | How does one develop the instinct of knowing when to press the shutter release button? instinct. doing it more and more you get the skills to know what will happen next or how to induce a moment worth pressing the shutter for. |
 | When should one use film, and when should one use digital? whenever one wants to. |
 | Does photography have the recognition that it should have in contemporary art museums? i don't believe it does yet. but give it another 50 years. cave paintings took a while. |

 | Is there any particular technique that you could share? i try to light simply but dynamically. getting as much edge light as possible. that way you're getting some separation from the background and the subject jumps out without post production.
i try to get the subject styled to something complementary to the background. not distracting colors.
i try to get the subject to do something that says something about themselves rather than just that they can smile. |
