WRITING
What did you first read? How did you begin to write? Who were the first to read what you wrote?
My writting started in grade school with poetry. I have had several works published. I have recieved numerous awards of excellence for my works. My attempt at writting a novel began in the early 1980's. Many revisions and additions have occured over time.
What is your favorite genre? Can you provide a link to a site where we can read some of your work or learn something about it?
What is your creative process like? What happens before sitting down to write?
Finding time in my busy day to sit down and put thoughts to paper has only lenghtened the process of completeing this novel
What type of reading inspires you to write?
Fiction novels soothes my mind of clutter and non fiction inspires me to create. Poetry soothes my soul.
What do you think are the basic ingredients of a story?
Love, fear, hope, inspiration, and imagination.
What voice do you find most to your liking: first person or third person?
First person allows for a deep involvement into the words of the writer
What well known writers do you admire most?
Jean M Auel, John Grisham, Diana Gabaldon, Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkein, Edgar Allen Poe.
What is required for a character to be believable? How do you create yours?
truth and honesty
Are you equally good at telling stories orally?
I think so,
Deep down inside, who do you write for?
myself, friends and family.
Is writing a form of personal therapy? Are internal conflicts a creative force?
Writting keeps me grounded to the realities of life.
Does reader feed-back help you?
Absolutely
Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards?
I have recieved several awards for Poetry and also recieved the Ontario Scholastic Achievment Award in English
Do you share rough drafts of your writings with someone whose opinion you trust?
Sometimes. I appreciate any and all critiques
Do you write on a computer? Do you print frequently? Do you correct on paper? What is your process?
Most works created on the computer, some to paper but eventually they all end up on disc.
What sites do you frequent on-line to share experiences or information?
What has been your experience with publishers?
