 | How did you begin in this field? Who introduced you to it? My passion for media started in my university days. After completing my communications degree from Simon Fraser University, I landed my first on-air job at a small local radio station. Since then, I can never get enough of media. It is addicting !! |
 | Which have been the most symbolic works of your career? Before television, I had the great pleasure of meeting and interviewing Russell Peters. One of Canada's most popular comedian who has made his name known around the world.
Since being in television, I have interviewed so many wonderful people including: Coco Rocha (SuperModel), Stacey McKenzie (Canada's Next Top Model), Lou Diamond Phillips (Actor), Dylan Lauren (Ralph Lauren's daughter), many top athletes from Vancouver's Winter Olympic Games, and the list goes on... |
 | Do you work for a client, for the audience, or for your own creative adventure? I work for whoever wants to listen. You can't be fake, or scripted! Depending on the medium I usually have a specific idea of who my audience is. This information is valuable to know because it helps with creativity. After all we all want to receive positive returns. |
JOURNALISM
 | What is your specialty? What subjects do you deal with? I deal with a wide range of subjects. I have gone from reporting the weather to covering the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. I believe it is an advantage for someone to be versatile and open to learning new environments. |
 | In which media do you presently work or have you worked? I currently host 'FMA Entertainment Weekly', a West-coast lifestyle television show airing Saturday nights at 1030 PM PST on KVOS.
The first addiction to media started at my first real media job, which was reporting the traffic and weather for a small radio station...since then the passion has grown stronger and stronger.
Just a few months ago I was hired by the Vancouver Olympic Committee (VANOC) to cover the Winter Olympic Games in Whistler, BC. It was too much fun, meeting and interviewing the top athletes, their coaches and officials. It was definitely an unforgettable experience. |

Better yet, they can simply write a blog of their interpretations about certain topics. |
 | Do you feel that analytical and investigative journalism is being lost? To a degree analytical and investigative journalism has formed into a new body, one that relies much more on technology. (this could be seen as a negative) |
 | With a camera on every mobile phone, is every citizen becoming a correspondent? YES! every citizen has the right and resources to become a correspondent. Youtube, blogger, twitter, facebook ect... all these social medias all have a huge part in today's new delivery. however, does this make every citizen a qualified correspondent - NO. |
 | What is your position regarding the right to privacy of famous people? everyone deserves the right to their own privacy. However, if you entered into the world of being famous, rich and beautiful you are also accepting the downsides of that world. Live with it! |
 | What can you teach us about the art of the interview? "The Art of the Interview"
Research, research research! There are many journalist who dont' do enough of the research and end up with a story that has no real substance.
The key to a good interview is the amount of time you put into the research!
Once the research is completed the interview will come naturally. I like to keep the interviewee engaged and energetic. When I am confident in my research/knowledge I can focus more on the energy, body language and most importantly the answers to my questions.
Worst case scenario: If you never did the research, hell you don't even know the person you're interviewing...ask a couple of questions and really....LISTEN!
You never know what some people may share with you. |
 | Please list well-known people you have interviewed. Before television, I had the great pleasure of meeting and interviewing Russell Peters. One of Canada's most popular comedian who has made his name known around the world.

 | What is the book you would like to write? Growing up White in a Brown Person's Body |
 | Is there a motto or ethical principle that clarifies your decisions in moments of confusion? "Will I regret this tomorrow?" |
 | What advice would you give to someone who has just left university and wishes to start in the profession? Regardless of profession/industry i would suggest to anyone who has left university to go back! Knowledge received from within the classroom can't be found anywhere else! |
