Interview with:Meg Nola [megnola]
CREATIVITY
How and why did you begin to be creative? I was really inspired from an early age by color. Anything with color would mesmerize me, and then when I learned to read, I was lucky enough to have started with some picture books that were full of bright and beautiful primary colors. That made me automatically connect visuals and words.
What cultural sources do you draw from the most? Museums and libraries, for sure. We'd be lost without them.
Do you work well under pressure? I occasionally do work well under pressure, because it forces out more structured ideas and gives me the kind of positive energy that comes from meeting a challenge.
WRITING
Do you participate in competitions? Have you received any awards? I have participated in competitions and won a couple of awards, though I try to enter really selectively -- like only one a year or every two years, if even that. It's always a boost if you get "official" approval, but you also can't be devastated if you don't. Sometimes the dynamic of a judging panel just isn't in your favor, but that doesn't mean what you've written isn't valid or good.
INTERNET
Where can we see some of your work online?
IDEAS
Do you believe many illnesses can be caused by the mind? I don't know about many illnesses, but some illnesses do seem to be both caused and cured by the mind, yes.
