Interview with:Melissa [melissaloves]
BLOGGING
 | What is your blog address? What subjects do you deal with? http://lovelylittlethingsblog.blogspot.com/
I like to write about the happenings in my life which mainly include my adventures in travel, baking, style, and photography. The majority of my posts are accompanied by photos personally taken with my own cameras. I enjoy capturing the simple joys of life. |
 | What was it that made you create your blog? On what date did you start it? I've been blogging since 2000, and have had several blogs in the past. My most recent blog was started in March of 2009. |
 | What blogging system have you adopted and why? I use blogspot because of its user friendly capabilities. I can post from home or via my iphone without a hitch. |
 | How many visits a day do you get? What type of comments do you receive? I don't really keep track of my statistics on a daily basis, but the times that I have checked, I probably average around 200 views. I have gotten such sweet comments from both friends and (surprisingly) nice strangers alike. I don't really advertise my blog all that much, but I am always excited to share it with others whenever I have an opportunity. |
 | How has 'having a blog' contributed to your life? I have always used blogging as an online documentation of my life as well as a creative outlet. It is a chance for me to write what is on my mind and share things I am inspired by with others. |
 | Have you created relationships with other bloggers or readers of your blog? Ever since I began blogging, I've had the opportunity to interact with hundreds of other bloggers who share my similar interests. We share ideas, inspire, and encourage each other through emails and comments. It's such a great way to network and make new friends. |
 | How often do you post? Does regular posting of your blog require a lot of effort on your part? I post at least once everyday. I post regularly during weekdays, and sometimes on weekends. I admit that it does take some effort on my part, but the fact that it is something I enjoy and love makes it worthwhile. I usually set aside time before I go to bed to work on my blog. It's definitely more therapeutic for me than anything. When I feel like it's becoming a chore, I take a break and come back to it later. |
 | Does blogging bring in income for you? Can one make a living from posting? I've heard of people making good money from blogging, but it is just a hobby for me for the meantime. If I ever did make any income off blogging, it would have to come from a source that I was proud of and inspired by. |
 | How do you promote your blog? I share it with friends, and also have put it in a couple blog directory listings. |
 | How would you define your readers? Have you got a faithful audience? My readers are typically people who enjoy my similar interests. I get a lot of comments from readers who appreciate my style of photography, so I'm assuming that it is where I draw a good part of my audience. |
 | Are there any blogs you follow daily or regularly? yes, I am inspired by several blogs
just to name a few:
http://cupcakesandcashmere.com
http://dooce.com
http://simplelovely.blogspot.com |
 | How do you see your blog evolving in the future? Because blogging has become a regular part of my life, I hope that I can continue to share and inspire others. In the long run, I would love my readership to grow, so I can connect with people from around the globe. I am also in the process of starting my own little bakeshop, so I've been sharing some of those ideas through my blog. |
 | What advice would you give to someone who wishes to begin a blog? I would tell anyone who is thinking about starting a blog, to just have fun with it. It's such a great hobby and outlet, but if you start taking it too seriously you might lose sight of why you started blogging in the first place. If anything, you will definitely have fun looking back at your old posts years later and laughing. I always do :) |
