Interview with:Michele Payne [michelepayne]
DESIGN
What is your specialty? I specialise in childrenswear textile graphics, but I have also worked in womenswear and I like to draw and make things generally.
| Where can we view your portfolio online? You can see some of my design work here :
http://michelepayne.synthasite.com |
What made you interested in design? Probably a combination of loving to draw from an early age, some good art teachers (Mr Hyde and Tom Embleton) and loving the fashion and style mags of the 80s, like Blitz, The Face and ID.
How would you define your design style? Adaptable and a bit quirky and tangential if I allow it to be. I've learnt to be more commercial but I naturally like to draw and create things that are a bit odd and childish too.
In which new areas would you like to experiment? I'd like to print and paint on canvas more! When I say more I mean I'd like to as it's been a long time.
Which software applications do you most utilize in your work? Illustrator CS3 and Photoshop CS3
If you weren't a designer, what would you be doing? Writing or law
At this moment, what would be your dream job or project? Designing a childrens book would be a great experience.
Which design resources online do you frequently visit? I mostly go to printpattern.blogspot.com as it has the most relevant information to keep me informed as to what's going on in the shops, but I also go to most high street kidswear store sites too.
