 | How did you get your first full assignment? What did it involve? A graphic designer friend saw my drawings and said "you should be an illustrator" and gave me a job for a magazine cover. |
 | What past or present day illustrators do you admire most? R.O. Blechman, David Levine, Saul Steinberg |
 | How similar are your current drawings to those you did as a child? I was a doodler. Still am. Simple, whimsical |
 | What was your favorite comic book as a child? Superman |
 | Do you have a particular style, or does it vary a lot? I work in several styles, all with a sense of loose simplicity |
 | What is hardest to draw? Complex scenes |
 | What type of music do you listen to while you work? R&B, Country |
 | Do you have a favorite work of art? Favorite artists: Miro, Matisse, Picasso |
 | What do you do when a client simply says "I don't like it"? That's always hard to hear, but often I find when I'm pushed to redo, it does come out better |
 | What new techniques have you been experimenting with lately? I'm doing a new line style that I call "Blot Line", working on very absorbent paper to achieve unexpected variations in the line |
 | What part of your work do you do on paper and what part digitally? I always to the line work on paper and scan and do color on the computer |
