What do you do? What is your musical specialty? Based in the Midlands, I'm a freelance Trombonist, specialising in Bass Trombone. The majority of my work at present is brass instrumental teaching, either individually, small groups and whole classes.
Do you work alone or in a group? If in a group, who are the others you work with? As a freelancer, I get the chance to play with many different ensembles. From classical emembles to contemporary ensembles. I'm always on the lookout for that next gig! I play regulary with a Ska band.
Is there a web address where one can listen, see, or read some of your work?
Please list any awards, competitions, or other acknowledgments you would like to mention. I have played in concert venues such as the Royal Albert Hall (London), the Adrian Boult Hall (Birmingham), Symphony Hall (Birmingham) St. Davids Hall (Cardiff) IN many different ensembles. I have not really entered myself into any competitions.
How did you begin making music? Who introduced you? I was brought up in a very musical family, learning the recorder and violin from a young age, then the drums, the piano and finaly the trombone!
What was your musical education? Ultimately I spent three years at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (Cardiff) studying bass trombone with Nye James, Mark Eager and Chris Mowat
When did you realise that making music could be a way of life for you? When i started getting good at playing the trombone! Its fantastic!
When do you have your most lucid moments, in the morning or night? Always the afternoon!
