 | What is the business idea that you are working on right now? How did you come up with it? The business I am working now is about internet and affiliate marketing. I was constantly looking for wys to increase my income and there was one day when I read the newspaper, I saw an ad about internet marketing. So, I went to the course and here I am as an affiliate marketer. :) |

| What is your professional background? What were you doing before? I gratudated with degree for chemistry and biology and I was previously work as a sales person for a multi national diagnostic company. |
| How did the entrepreneurial spirit rise up in you? Were you exposed to entrepreneurship in your family or your social environment when you were a child? I think the entrepreneurial spirit just came at that time. No one taught me to be an entrepreneur instead I understand that I can't remain as a sales person for long term. Since I can achieve the sales target for someone else, why don't I achieve my own? |
| Do you have partners working with you on this? How do you split the work with them? Currently I am working alone and I have no intenrion to get anyone on board with me yet. But I was looking for opportunities to joint venture with the icon in this internet and affiliate marketing business. |
| Describe your business plan as briefly and simply as possible. In my own words, make BIG money everyday. :) |
| What have you achieved up to now? What have you yet to achieve? With the blessing of the power above, I am now earning enough for me to stay home and focus on my online business. Of course the thing I am looking forward to is to make as much money as possible with least supervision and I am still working on that. Just to let you know, I have the picture of my dream house and car stick on my PC monitor to remind me of what I yet to achieve. |
| Do you have employees or people that you outsource tasks to? What do they do? For the time being, I am still doing the leg work myself. But as things are getting more hectic for me, I am interested to oursouce some of my marketing works. |
| Entrepreneurs have a reputation as "control freaks." How do you avoid that? Sometime I do feel that in me and that is possibly one of the reason why I don't outsource my work. Still, I am starting to look into the possibility to let someone else do some of my work. In short, I am learning to do that. |
| How do you balance work with relaxation? Luckily, I have my wife to remind me of this. She knows when I am overwork. Even i don't notice that. She will then remind me to go for a jog or swim with her or at least do something to get me out from the house just to help me relax and away from the radiation from the PC (I think). I am really grateful of that. :) |
| What is your main motivation: being your own boss, adventure and discovery, getting rich, doing good for others, or is there something else? I think my main motivation is create a better future for my family. I understand that things getting more and more expensive nowadays and there is more job insecurity. If you look at the current job market, there are more and more graduates on the street and they are ready to take your job if you are careful to protect your job. If that is the case, why don't I start something of my own before I was asked to leave. |
| What do you think of big corporations? Would you work for one? Big corporations are good. There are so many things you can learn from them although they do have a lot of regulations (which I don't like). But yeah. I will work for them but not now since I am happy with what I have now. :) |
| Describe two moments of maximum fear and maximum satisfaction that you have lived through in your business adventure. Maximum fear:
1) Budget getting smaller and smaller - this happen when I started the business because everything about internet and affiliate marketing business is calculated in US currency. I used up nearly 90% of my saving when I started the business and a lot of time I sitll need to pay monthly fees for the autoresponder and hosting fees. It was scary to see that the money in my bank is getting lesser and lesser.
2) No result seen - as I am spending the money to build my online business, I am still not making any money to cover my expenses. My mentor told me to be patience and the money will soon come. I nearly scream at his face "When?!" You can't imagine the intensity I have at that time. you have to go through that to feel it.
Maximum satisfaction:
1) Finally - yeah. Finally I started to see money coming in. Although the money is used to cover my marketing expenses (the money is not profit) but I know that I can make money with affiliate marketing. I still remember the day I hold the first cheque in my hand. It was such a relieve that I can still the hear myself sighing for relieve. Thank God... |
| When you need guidance or advice, where do you find it? I will go to my tutor and search online and forums. You can't imagine the amount of help you can get online with just some effort and they are FREE. |
| Up to what point is luck is important? How do you attract it? Luck is important. But I never know that you can attract it. Maybe I should start to search online about that. |
| What do you do to maintain morale and continue persevering in low times? Exercise. Personally, that is the best way to be motivated. I feel great after I sweat. It feels that all the loads inside have came out. You should try it too. |
| Which well known entrepreneurs/enterprises do you admire? Why? Richard Branson. I always admire his spirit and how much he values talent and people in his organization. These bosses are hard to get. I even imagine myself working for him and he is the only reason I will give up my online business. I think... |
| What other types of businesses are you frequently tempted by? Still internet and affiliate marketing business but in other niches. I am interested in photography and wine and extream sports. Just that I am tie down with the work I am doing now. |
| Are these times of crisis good for beginning a business? You can't better time than now. I know that there are more people got laid off because of the current economy crisis. If you are one of them, why don't you take this time and start something that belong to you? Besides, you can make extra income with your own online business. You will be more financially secure. |
| What would you call success? Where would you like your business to be five years from now? To me personally, success is when you are able to help someone else to be successful and that is what I am trying to do. Hopefully I can bring my business to a higher level in 5 years and I can make this easier for more people and they can be more secure of their future. |
| What skills would you advise a want-to-be-entrepreneur to acquire? Look into yourself. There is no better skill you need to acquire before you start to be an entrepreneur. Ask yourself, "What motivate you to get up in the morning?" There are a lot of things to take care of when you start to become an entrepreur. If you are unclear of who you are and what motivate you, you will give up your entrepreneur dream when the first challenge knock on your door. |
